Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1965. Ph.D. (Academic). Recognized by Guinness World Records in two categories as the first astronaut in the world to successfully complete three spaceflights and return to Earth via three different modes of transportation. Received the YouTube Creator Award in 2021 for videos such as “Live Chopin Performance from Space.”He was selected as one of the “100 People of the World” by the international NPO “Genius 100” Foundation.

He has received awards such as the Japan Society for Qualitative Psychology Paper Award for his “First-Person Research on Space,” which delves into experiences of burnout after returning from space and perspectives on life and death. He is a recipient of the Boy Scouts Special Merit Award and the Platinum Agist 2025 Award in the Culture and Education category.
