First in Japan! Large scale foley field SKYSQUARE reservation start!
SKYSQUARE, a new base for breaking through the "limits" of sound production
株式会社AZSTOKE
AZSTOKE Corporation (AZSTOKE; Location: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; President: Kentaro Nakajima), a company specializing in game sound development, has opened SKYSQUARE, Japan's first large-scale dedicated foley field in Shioyama, Koshu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, and will begin accepting reservations on May 8, 2026. Reservations are now being accepted from May 8, 2026.

Large-scale Foley Field SKYSQUARE Reservations Begin
By securing a vast field as our own base, we can realize large-scale and dynamic environmental sound and Foley recording, which was not possible with conventional in-studio recording.

SKYSQUARE
The "physical energy" of overwhelming scale that is required in this era of in-house studios.
In order to realize "recording in a large scale and realistic environment," the natural environment is converted directly into a studio. Currently, we are optimizing "large-scale Foley recording" by maximizing the use of our vast site.
In today's game sound production, the demand for more immersive and "realistic sound" continues to grow. More and more companies are equipped with their own dedicated Foley studios, and the quality of everyday sound production is dramatically improving.
However, the "indoor" environment of the studio still has physical space limitations, echo limitations, and barriers to recording with heavy objects and extensive action.
Now that the studio is becoming the standard, we have focused on the possibilities of "outdoor" sound that transcends the boundaries of the studio environment.
Establishment of an online quotation page
In conjunction with the launch of this facility, we have opened an "Online Estimating System" to speed up the project budgeting process. The system visualizes the cost structure of recording, which tends to be complex, and enables rough calculations according to conditions from the website. This will support speedy budget planning from the creative conception stage.

Four recording categories that define the mass and energy of sound
Four categories are available to choose from, emphasizing "physical mass" and "spatial dynamics," which were not possible in conventional indoor studios.
*Some categories are not available for certain plans.
1. lightweight (Light)
Objects: Shoes, axes, iron, pieces of wood, concrete chunks

Lightweight recording-LIGHT-.
This category is for materials that can be directly handled by humans. This category features recordings that include the "vast outdoor atmosphere" that is difficult to reproduce in a typical studio. Footsteps on various surfaces such as natural dirt, gravel, and grass, chopping wood with an axe, and the sound of wood chips and stones colliding can be captured in a pure state with no unwanted reflections. These are everyday sounds of movement, yet they add a natural resonance and fine detail to the library that blends with the outside air and can never be obtained in a studio booth. 2.
2. weight (Heavy)
Objects: Heavy objects that cannot be carried by humans, rocks, large steel, huge fallen trees

Weight recording-HEAVY
This category represents this facility, which completely breaks through the floor load capacity and space limitations of indoor facilities. This category targets sounds of uncontrollable mass by human power, such as huge boulders, massive metal chunks, and large diameter fallen trees that are manipulated with heavy equipment. The "real ground-shaking bass" generated by striking, crushing, or dragging these objects is safely and dynamically recorded. The destructive energy released by the tremendous shock waves and overwhelming mass, which cannot be reached by physical simulation, is fully contained in the sound. 3.
3. electric power
Target: Chain saws, grinders, drills, large power tools in general

Electric recording-ELECTRIC
This category specializes in electric tools that are extremely difficult to record indoors due to sparks, dust, and intense noise. The bare drive noise of high-revving motors such as chain saws and grinders, and the intense friction noise of cutting materials are recorded in an open-air environment with a full power supply. The power and mechanical texture of the tools are captured at close range while keeping the noise floor to an absolute minimum. This enables the provision of uncompromised "real driving sound" for game productions and video productions that pursue reality. 4.
4. attribute (Element)
Target: Bonfires, flamethrowers (burners), small fireworks, large fireworks, ice (winter only)

Attribute recording-ELEMENT-.
This category deals with natural elements such as "fire," "fireworks," and "ice," which require special environmental settings. From the delicate sound of a bonfire with wood exploding, to the explosion of fireworks piercing the night sky, to the sharp combustion sound of a gas burner, we pursue the expression of "fire" that is only possible in an open outdoor space. In winter, "ice" can also be recorded, taking advantage of the region's climate. The propagation of sound spreading into the unobstructed sky and the dynamism of the natural world are recorded at the highest purity, giving the sound source overwhelming persuasiveness.
SKYSQUARE's Way" to achieve overwhelming reality
1. creation of a giant pit

Giant pit

Scene of the use of the giant pit.
A huge pit measuring 12m wide x 8m deep x 3m deep was constructed on a 2,000 tsubo field, which was excavated by the artist himself using heavy machinery. It is not just a mere pit, but a structural device to suppress unnecessary sound diffraction to the surroundings and capture the targeted impact sound more clearly. Removing the "wall" restrictions of an indoor studio, this huge space surrounded by the natural sound-absorbing material called soil is the "special stage" for creating high-energy destructive sounds with earth resonance. 2.
2. securing necessary "heavy components" in-house

Procurement of waste materials
The highest hurdle in heavy recording is the procurement and transportation of huge materials.
SKYSQUARE secures and stocks these heavy materials for recording on its own. These materials include several tons of concrete and massive steel, which naturally cannot be obtained at home improvement stores.

Transportation of Materials
In the world of sound, rather than ready-made products, it is the "good quality materials" that are distorted, bent, or missing that produce complex overtones and deep, destructive sounds. We have created an environment where such one-of-a-kind materials can be handled immediately on site as "real mass" that matches the concept, without the customer having to scramble to arrange them themselves. This enables us to achieve both a drastically shortened preparation period and overwhelming cost performance. 3.
3. safe and bold recording backed by 14 professional qualifications

Utilizing 14 qualifications
There is always a risk involved in recording that involves large-scale destructive sounds and the dropping and moving of heavy objects. Our representative, Mr. Nakajima, currently holds a total of 14 professional qualifications.
Precise control : Qualification holders personally operate heavy equipment and manipulate heavy objects.
Assurance of safety : Because of our thorough compliance with laws and regulations and safety management, we can safely execute "aggressive recording" that is impossible in a studio.

Handling of heavy equipment by professional staff
Use of this facility
SKYSQUARE" is the first field-type recording studio in Japan that enables large-scale, high-energy Foley recording, which has been impossible to achieve in an indoor studio. SKYSQUARE is available to anyone seeking professional recording regardless of industry or size. We have a system in place that allows you to complete everything from quotations to reservations online.
