Shin Kikinzoku Co. (Location: Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture; President: Takashi Yoshida) has confirmed that Poseidon, a completely inorganic concrete modifier and waterproofing material, can be stably supplied without being affected by the shortage of organic solvents amid the ongoing global petrochemical supply crisis.

In addition, this technology has conformed to multiple quality and performance tests conducted by the Japan Testing Center for Construction Materials, Japan's highest level third-party testing organization, and its adoption in the public infrastructure field is expanding.

■Background

The growing tension in the Middle East has led to widespread uncertainty over the supply of petrochemicals, and construction sites are increasingly rethinking their reliance on organic materials. Particularly in the public infrastructure field, there is a growing interest in inorganic materials that provide both a stable supply and a longer service life.

Against this social background, we have continued to verify the performance of our existing product, Poseidon, a completely inorganic concrete reforming and waterproofing material, and to demonstrate its effectiveness in public infrastructure.

■ Research Results

* Stable supply unaffected by organic solvent shortages

Poseidon, which is composed completely of inorganic materials, was confirmed to be in stable supply, unaffected by the global shortage of solvents.

* Deep penetration of more than 10 cm inside concrete and self-healing properties

Poseidon is a mortar paste material made mainly from cementitious inorganic ingredients, and can be applied using only water. After application, Poseidon penetrates about 10 cm deep into the concrete and forms needle-like crystals in the micro voids. The crystals continue to grow after application and self-heal fine cracks.

Performance confirmed by Japan's highest standard third-party testing organization

The product conformed to multiple quality and performance tests conducted by the Japan Testing Center for Construction Materials in accordance with national standards for compressive strength, bending strength, adhesion strength, etc. In particular, it passed the JASS8 M-301 test.

In particular, the JASS8 M-301 needle crystal volume and penetration coefficient tests have shown results that meet the standard values.

Widely used in public infrastructures and private buildings

While the use of our products in public infrastructures such as airport facilities, electric power infrastructures, and road maintenance and management is increasing, the use of our products in private concrete buildings such as RC houses and condominiums is also expanding for the purpose of preventing water leakage and deterioration.

Poseidon has been highly evaluated for its versatility and effectiveness in both public and private sectors, and is attracting attention as a technology that contributes to countermeasures against aging and reduction of maintenance and management costs.

Features of Poseidon

Waterproofing

By applying 1mm of Poseidon to concrete, it will impregnate the inside of the concrete and demonstrate its waterproofing effect.

Hair cracks that occur after application react with moisture from rain and repair themselves.

Self-repair

The self-healing function is triggered when water re-enters the cracks and voids.

The water that has penetrated the cracks and voids dissolves and activates the remaining unreacted silicate and alkali components in the waterproofing material, and the crystallization reaction is resumed.

This reaction fills cracks and capillaries with new crystals and automatically restores waterproofing performance by blocking the passage of water.

[Leakage Repair

Poseidon performs well in areas where there is back water pressure. Poseidon can be used in the same way as quenching cement to stop water in areas with severe leaks, and can be applied to leaky areas where water seeps out.

Mildew prevention

This product keeps strong alkaline condition and suppresses the generation of mold.

Geopolymer

The geopolymer effect is a phenomenon in which the strength and durability of materials are greatly enhanced by the high-strength inorganic network structure formed by the reaction of silicate and alumina.

This reaction produces a dense and stable crystalline structure inside the concrete, leading to improved long-term durability and water resistance.

De-plasticization

As a completely inorganic product, it contains no organic matter.
