Denshi Gihan Co. (Location: Suita City, Osaka; CEO: Hiroki Kitayama), which manufactures and sells PCB art goods "PCB ART moeco" using PCB design and manufacturing technology, equipment, and design capabilities, will hold "Factory Tour & Workshop" every week starting Monday, May 27, 2024.

This tour allows participants to get hands-on experience with electronics work and experience value beyond a tour. The workshops are designed for inexperienced or novice electronics workers, who will complete their electronics work with the advice of our manufacturing staff.

Purpose of the Workshop

The purpose of the "Factory Tour & Workshop" is to promote the manufacturing industry in Japan and around the world, and to revitalize the local economy, with a view to increasing domestic tourists and inbound demand for the "Osaka-Kansai Expo. The goal is to promote the unique technological and design capabilities of the industry in Japan and around the world, and to revitalize the local economy. We hope that this unique experience combining technology and culture will not only be an unforgettable memory for domestic tourists and foreign visitors to Japan, but will also stimulate interest in manufacturing and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Features of the "Factory Tour & Workshop

This tour starts with a factory tour. Participants can learn elementary knowledge about PCBs and how PCBs are produced while seeing the behind-the-scenes manufacturing process.

Participants will then solder the boards themselves to complete an IC card-sized board with LEDs that glow without batteries. The sight of the completed board glowing with radio waves gives participants a sense of accomplishment.

This tour is designed to make participants feel familiar with printed circuit boards by touching them, which are the "behind-the-scenes helpers," and to make them fall in love with them.

What is PCB ART moeco?

PCB art goods "PCB ART moeco" are PCB art goods using PCB design and manufacturing technology, facilities, and design capabilities of our main business. We use CAD for printed circuit boards to design and mount (solder) electronic components on real PCBs. We design the CAD in-house and mount the components on the surface mounting line at our main factory, which is used in our main business. The board CAD that designs the board is not design software, so lines are drawn one by one with the mouse. The iPhone case and IC card case are not only elaborately designed, but also feature a circuit that allows LEDs to light up via radio waves.

The circuit that makes LEDs glow with radio waves is patented in 2020 (patent number 6667777).

■Factory Tour

Before the workshop, we will take you on a tour of our factory. You can see how industrial circuit boards and PCB ART moeco are made.

Workshop

<LED glows without batteries! Let's make a printed circuit board that glows when you touch the ticket gate.

You will solder chip LEDs with a soldering iron. The level of difficulty is for beginners to those with no experience in electronic construction.

Please choose one of the original designs (Kansai circuit diagram, Tokyo circuit diagram, Kanagawa Okinonoura/Katsushika Hokusai, etc.) or licensed designs (Evangelion first plane, etc.) on the day of the workshop.

You will be able to take home the finished board as a souvenir. Please enjoy it as a key ring or a bag tag. (Put it on your IC card and touch it at the ticket gate to make the LED light up.)

After the workshop, we will have a sale of new and outlet PCB art goods (without packaging). Free board gacha will also be held.

■Precautions

The soldering iron is heated to 350℃, so there is a risk of burns. There is a risk of injury or damage to clothing due to protrusions in the factory equipment. Please understand in advance that our company will not take any responsibility in any case.

This is a hands-on event for those who can understand Japanese. (Foreign language tours will be offered through travel agencies.)

Children (elementary and junior high school students) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Profile of Representative Director, Mr. Kitayama

Second-generation manager of a small factory in Osaka. From the second grade of elementary school, he lived above the printed circuit board mounting factory of the family business and spent his time watching the changes in circuit boards, miniaturization of components, and mounting methods. He joined the family business, but due to anxiety about the future of subcontracting work going overseas, he re-learned business administration (differentiation of mechanisms) at the graduate school of Osaka Prefecture University while working. While still in school, he launched a PCB prototyping business and became armed for the first time. 2014, with the ambition to have PCB goods, he launched PCB art goods business PCB ART moeco and started selling at Daikanyama Tsutaya bookstore. He designed his own Tokyo Circuit Diagram and it became a hit. This is his first in-house product and his first B-to-C challenge.
