Released "AP-380 Series" Trace Gas Analyzers

~Capturing the needs for measurement of diverse trace gases, Expanding business in new markets such as the electronics industry and gas production processes

株式会社堀場製作所

HORIBA CORPORATION (Headquarters: 2 Kichijoin Miyano-Higashimachi, Minami-ku, Kyoto; President: Masayuki Adachi; hereafter referred to as "HORIBA") announces the release of the AP-380 Series trace gas analyzer, which continuously measures the concentrations of carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, ozone, nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons at the nano level with high accuracy.

In addition to environmental monitoring of the atmosphere, the AP-380 Series is an ultra-trace gas analyzer that meets diverse needs, including monitoring of molecular contaminants in manufacturing areas for semiconductors, sensors, electronic components, etc., impurities in gas production processes, and air quality inspections in automobiles.

By adopting a highly customizable modular design (*1) for the gas measurement section, it is now possible to provide the gas measurement section as a stand-alone unit, which was considered difficult in the past. This allows us to respond flexibly to customer needs, such as incorporating the gas analyzer into equipment or existing facilities.

By leveraging the trace gas measurement technology and achievements accumulated over more than 50 years in air pollution monitoring and measurement, we aim to expand our business in the new market of trace gas measurement.

This product will be exhibited at IIFES 2024, a comprehensive exhibition of advanced automation and measurement technologies, to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from January 31, 2024.

Trace Gas Analyzer "AP-380 Series

Background of Development

With a history of over 50 years in air pollution monitoring and measurement, we have been steadily responding to the needs of air environment monitoring mainly by providing equipment and services to local governments and factories.

On the other hand, the trace gas measurement market has diverse measurement needs, including low-concentration gas measurement required in various industrial processes, impure substance monitoring for quality control in gas production processes, and gas leak monitoring to ensure worker safety. Against this backdrop, we have developed the AP-380 Series, which is highly customizable and easy to operate, to strengthen our application proposals to new markets.

Main Product Features

The AP-380 series consists of five models: APMA-380 for carbon monoxide, APSA-380 for sulfur dioxide, APOA-380 for ozone, APNA-380 for nitrogen oxides, and APHA-380 for hydrocarbons.

1. modular design of gas measuring section for high customizability and minimized downtime

By modularizing the gas measurement section, we are able to propose usage methods that meet customer needs, including not only conventional benchtop (*2) and rackmount (*2) models, but also wallmount (*2) models and models that can be built into equipment. In addition, we can also customize the system to meet customer needs, such as multi-component measurement. Modules can be replaced onsite for maintenance or in the event of malfunctions, greatly reducing equipment downtime. 2.

2) Improved work efficiency with updated software and full remote functionality

The software has been optimized to improve visibility and operability. In addition, full remote functionality allows remote operation from various devices such as PCs and smartphones. This reduces the number of times customers need to travel to the work site, contributing to improved work efficiency and work style innovation. 3.

(3) Mercury-free and other environmentally friendly designs

Energy-saving (up to 20% reduction(*3)) and lightweight (up to 15% reduction(*3)) are realized to reduce power consumption. In addition, mercury-free parts such as LED light sources and ozone generators are used to reduce environmental impact. 4.

Capable of measuring various gases at the nano-level and over a wide range

High-precision nano level measurement from ppm (*4) to ppb (*5) is possible. The range of concentrations that can be measured has been greatly expanded (up to 40 times(*3)) compared to previous products. In addition, to measure higher concentrations of gases, it can be combined with a dilution device as an option.

(*1) Modular design: A method of designing and combining products in functional units. It allows for easy replacement and customization, and enhances product flexibility and maintainability.

(*2) Bench-top: A method of installing on a desk.

Rack mount: A method of storing equipment and devices on dedicated shelves (racks)

Wall mount: Installation method in which the product is fixed to a wall surface by creating a support

(*3) Compared with our conventional products. Effects may vary depending on usage and conditions.

(*4) The concept of ratio with a unit of one part per million. In the case of gas components, 1ppm means that 1 liter of the target component exists in 1 million liters of gas.

(*5) The concept of ratio with a unit of one part per billion. In the case of gaseous components, 1 ppb means that 1 liter of the target component exists in 1 billion liters of gas.
