Smart Fitness Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo Ward, Tokyo;Representative Director: Teruo Tanno), will offer free access to its 14 company-operated “Smart Fit 100” 24-hour gyms nationwide for 10 days, from Friday, September 18, 2026, through Sunday, September 27, 2026, to coincide with the “Health Promotion Month” designated by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

According to the “Reiwa 7 Public Opinion Survey on Sports Participation and Related Matters” released by the Agency for Sports in March 2026, the percentage of people aged 20 and older who engage in sports at least once a week stands at just 51.7 percent, a figure that has remained virtually unchanged since fiscal year 2022.

For this event, we are waiving the requirement for advance registration or membership sign-up, creating an opportunity for people to casually drop by whenever they feel like “giving exercise a try,” thereby providing a catalyst for them to start exercising.

■Background

At Smart Fit 100, through our operation of 24-hour gyms, we have received feedback such as, “I’m interested in the gym, but signing a contract right away feels like too big a hurdle.”

Therefore, in conjunction with “Health Promotion Month,” we are holding a free open house that requires no advance registration or membership sign-up, with the aim of making fitness more accessible to a wider audience. We are creating an opportunity for people to casually experience the gym and encouraging them to take that first step toward starting exercise.
