"Senpaku," an Open Factory Tour of the Textile-Producing Regions of Kurashiki and Okayama, to Be Held
~Experience the Appeal of Craftsmanship Through an Online and In-Person Tour!~
倉敷ファッションフロンティア実行委員会
The “Sanbi Region” is one of Japan’s three major textile production areas. With the goal of raising awareness of the Sanbi Region and securing the next generation of industry leaders, the Kurashiki Fashion Frontier Executive Committee will host “Senpaku,” an open factory event touring the textile production areas of Kurashiki and Okayama, starting on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Now in its eighth year, this year’s event will feature both an “In-Person Textile Region Tour,” where participants visit local companies in person, and an “Online Textile Region Tour,” which uses videos to showcase the region’s advanced technical skills and the appeal of manufacturing. The “Online Textile Region Tour” will feature programs introducing the various products made in the region and the different career paths within the textile industry, as well as programs following a day in the life of a young employee and videos showcasing the region’s history and current state. The content is designed to appeal to a wide audience, ranging from high school students to vocational school and college students.
This is a valuable opportunity to experience firsthand the integrated manufacturing techniques unique to this region and the appeal of working there. A diverse range of companies in the region are waiting to welcome students interested in the textile industry—including those interested in school uniforms, work uniforms, jeans, denim, woven fabrics, and dyeing and finishing—as well as those looking to change careers!
