The Culture, Arts, and Sports Promotion Association is hosting “Kyoto Gyoza Grand Operation 2026 Autumn.” Enjoy a collaborative experience with Komadori Anime Studio’s “Dwarf” and spend a fun-filled day with the whole family sampling delicious gyoza from all over Japan!
Local gyoza from across the country and Kyoto craft beer come together! Along with the “Kyoto Craftsmanship Grand Campaign,” featuring anime production workshops led by the renowned studio “Dwarf” and drone experiences, this is five days of fun and learning for the whole family!

The General Incorporated Association for the Promotion of Culture, Arts, and Sports will host the “Kyoto Gyoza Daisakusen 2026 Autumn” food festival—featuring a variety of gyoza from across the country and local craft beers—for five days from Saturday, September 19, 2026, to Wednesday, September 23, 2026 (a national holiday), at Umekoji Park(in front of JR Umekoji Kyoto-Nishi Station). This fall, the event will blend “food” and “experiences” on an even grander scale!We will also be holding the “Kyoto Crafting Operation,” an interactive kids’ event, featuring a wide range of activities that will captivate everyone from children to adults—including an authentic animation production workshop led by the animation studio “dwarf,” as well as drone experiences and a bouncy castle.

“Dwarf,” the studio behind numerous characters and stop-motion animations, is coming to Kyoto! We’ll be holding a special, 5-day-only workshop centered on the theme of “Creating Animation.”

Description: Use everyday stationery to create a “moving story” based on your own ideas! You can take home your very own finished flipbook.

(2) [September 19–23] Zoetrope (Rotating Peep Show) Workshop
Description: Handcraft a “zoetrope”—the origin of animation, invented in the 19th century! Experience the wonder of seeing the images move smoothly when you peek through the slits, and learn how it works.
Capacity: Limited to 70 people per day (10 people per session / Reservations given priority)

(3) [September 22–23 Only] Taught by the Dwarves! Stop-Motion Animation Workshop
Description: Under the direct guidance of Dwarf members, draw your own original character and film it frame by frame! You’ll receive the filmed footage and a commemorative acrylic stand as a gift.

(4) [September 22–23 Only] Special Screening of Dwarf Productions
Details: Enjoy watching stop-motion animation works produced by Studio “Dwarf” inside the tent—works that exude the unique warmth of handcrafted animation. (Advance reservations are prioritized)
All programs are for ages 6 and up. *Preschoolers may participate when accompanied by a guardian.

From classics like “Utsunomiya Juicy Gyoza” and “Hamamatsu Gyoza” to luxurious seafood varieties such as “Hiroshima Oyster-Lemon Gyoza” and “Scallop Butter Gyoza,” as well as specialty meat options like “Sendai’s Famous Beef Tongue Gyoza”and “Satsuma Black Pork & Black Chicken Salt Gyoza”—a wide variety of gyoza from across the country, each boasting its own unique flavor, have gathered here! The lineup features a diverse range of unique varieties, including “Marumochi Gyoza,” “Ibaraki Lotus Root Gyoza,” and “Hakata Bite-Size Gyoza.”In addition, four popular local Kyoto breweries—including “KYOTO NUDE BREWERY” and “Kyoto Beer Lab”—will be setting up shop. Enjoy the perfect pairing of exquisite gyoza and premium craft beer under the blue sky.
