Given that long-term care insurance reimbursements are not keeping pace with rising prices and labor costs, it is becoming difficult to ensure the stable and sustainable operation of “House of Hope.”“House of Hope,” a small day service center providing specialized care, is facing a serious financial crisis.

■ Characteristics

[Low-Income Elderly Living Alone Who Do Not Qualify for Public Assistance]

They live in old, non-barrier-free apartments; if they have physical disabilities, they cannot bathe on their own as they wish; due to soaring prices, their living expenses are insufficient, and there are days when they must survive on a single meal of pre-packaged bread; and they often find it difficult to attend day care services.

Food donated by Food Bank Fukuoka and A-Coop Sue Store is distributed to users of day service programs who are on public assistance, as well as to low-income individuals, public assistance recipients, seniors living alone, and single-parent households through local welfare commissioners and the Regional Comprehensive Support Center.

[A Stimulating Living Environment]

Among those with low incomes or receiving public assistance, many are unable to leave their homes alone and find it difficult to go out. Some also have dementia and typically spend their days sitting quietly in their rooms. “House of Hope” serves as a vital and stimulating living environment for these individuals.

[A Place for Independence Support]

It is often difficult for older adults with disabilities to perform functional training at home. Therapists provide specialized stretching exercises targeting specific areas of impairment and assist with individualized exercise routines—tailored to each resident’s needs—to help them prevent the deterioration of their condition.
