“Michi-no-Eki Ishikawa” (operated by Sakura no Mori Co., Ltd.; President: Takahito Kawagoe), which Ishikawa Town in Ishikawa District, Fukushima Prefecture, has been developing, will hold its grand opening on Friday, September 18, 2026.This will be the 37th Roadside Station in Fukushima Prefecture and the first in the town. It serves as a new hub that brings together the rich cuisine, local specialties, history, culture, and tourism information of Ishikawa Town and the wider Fukushima region, promoting their appeal both locally and beyond.Featuring a farmers’ market, dining areas, a bakery, and specialty dessert shops, the station will offer a wide range of original products made with local ingredients, delivering the unique charm of the region through various experiences centered around “buying,” “eating,” and “learning.”

Additionally, a preview event for media representatives will be held on Thursday, September 17, the day before the grand opening, and on Friday, September 18, the opening day, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held as part of the opening festivities.

■From mountain delicacies to seafood! A place where “delicious” comes together

Blessed with the temperature variations and abundant water of the Abukuma River basin, Ishikawa Town cultivates a diverse range of agricultural products, including apples, peaches, and rice. Since ancient times, it has thrived as a post town where people and goods have come and gone.

Today, taking advantage of the topography of this mid-mountainous region—blessed with abundant local resources such as cherry blossoms, minerals, and hot springs—the area captivates visitors with its bounty from both land and sea, including the “Ishikawa Honey Beef,” raised freely in a natural environment.

“Roadside Station Ishikawa” is a facility that showcases this regional abundance as innovative “cuisine” tailored to the modern era. Its farmers’ market features seasonal produce delivered directly from local growers and offers approximately 670 items, primarily products that highlight regional ingredients and local specialties. Additionally, at the “Sakura no Mori Shokudo” dining area,“Ishikawa Honey Beef” from Ishikawa Town, Fukushima Prefecture, seafood bowls featuring fresh local fish from the Joban coast, and dishes featuring “cabbage mochi”—a Fukushima specialty—all designed to reflect the region’s ingredients and culinary culture.In this area, which once served as a post town where mountain and sea delicacies were exchanged, we now bring you the region’s unique “delicacies” from “Roadside Station Ishikawa.”

While the farmers’ market features agricultural products—including apples and rice grown in the Abukuma River basin’s favorable climate and pure water—the retail area offers approximately 670 items.
