~Reflecting on “Passing on a Legacy” Through Theater Productions and Dialogue Among Participants~

Career Design International Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo; President: Fumiko Watanabe) held the “Heart Day Special Event 2026” at CIC Tokyo on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

The event featured a screening of a stage production based on the real-life experiences of individuals who have long been involved in talent development at Toyota Mobility Tokyo, followed by a talk session and discussions among participants. Attendees reflected on caring for others, expressing gratitude, and passing on what is important to the next generation.

The event was held in a hybrid format, combining an in-person venue with an online component, and attracted a large number of participants.

■August 10 is “Heart Day”

August 10 is known as “Heart Day” because the numbers “8” and “10” sound like the Japanese word for “heart” (ha-to).

Even if you feel gratitude or affection for those close to you—such as family, friends, or coworkers—there are surprisingly few opportunities in daily life to actually put those feelings into words.

“I heard today is ‘Heart Day,’ by the way.” Why not use a casual conversation like this as an opportunity to express—through words or actions—the feelings you’re usually too shy to convey? Taking advantage of a special occasion or using “Heart Day” as a way to convey your feelings is an important way to express your sentiments.

August 10, 2026, will only come once. We hope you’ll use this day as a milestone to tell your loved ones “Thank you” or “I love you.”

■ Reflecting on “Passing on Traditions” Through Theater and Dialogue

As part of the “Heart Day Special Event 2026,” we presented a stage production based on real-life experiences.

Following the screening, we held a talk on the theme of “What does it mean to nurture someone?” and a mini-discussion on the theme of “What we want to pass on.” Participants shared their experiences and thoughts with one another.

Raising and supporting others involves more than just teaching knowledge and skills; it also includes trusting the other person, watching over them, and reaching out when needed—all of which are vital ways to connect with others.

For the participants, it was a time to reflect on the words and attitudes they had received from others in the past and to consider what they themselves would like to pass on to others in the future.

■ “Heart Day” Actions: Start in Your Own Community

On “Heart Day,” you can take action right in your own life without any special preparation.

Send a short message to someone you care about, take a photo striking a heart pose, or talk about “Heart Day” with family, friends, or coworkers. When sharing on social media, adding the hashtag “#HeartDay” to your photos or messages is another way to participate.

A single “thank you” or “I care about you” from one person can ripple out to someone else. We hope August 10th will be just such a day.

Career Design International will continue to use “Heart Day” as an opportunity to help people think of their loved ones and express their gratitude and love.
