Global Demand for Instant Noodles Reached 124.21 Billion Servings in 2025, World Instant Noodles Association (WINA) Reports

World Instant Noodles Association

The World Instant Noodles  Association (WINA) has released its latest data on total global demand for  instant noodles in 2025. Global demand in 2025 reached 124.21 billion servings,  representing a 0.7% year-on-year increase (+0.90 billion servings). The rankings  of the top three countries and regions remained unchanged from the previous  year: China/Hong Kong ranked first with 43.27 billion servings, followed by  Indonesia with 14.54 billion servings, and India with 9.60 billion servings.

In 2025, developments such  as U.S. trade policy and tensions in the Middle East brought greater attention  to the impact on raw material and product costs. Asia also saw a decline in  export sales due to geopolitical risks and rising raw material prices. These  trends appear likely to continue into 2026, affecting corporate procurement and  pricing strategies. Under these circumstances, total demand for instant noodles  in 2025 grew in all regions except Europe. Asia continued to lead overall  growth, while Latin America and the Middle East/Africa also recorded high  growth rates.

■Backgroundof the Top 5 Countries in Global Demand for Instant Noodles in 2025

1. China/Hong Kong

Demand in China/Hong Kong totaled 43.27 billion  servings in 2025, representing a 1.2% year-on-year decrease (-0.53 billion  servings). China’s real GDP growth rate in 2025 was 5.0% year on year,  achieving the government’s target of “around 5%.” Growth was driven by exports  and policies promoting the replacement of home appliances. However, amid  continued deflation, consumers showed a stronger tendency toward frugality and  more selective spending. Even under deflationary conditions, cup-type noodles  and mid- to high-priced bag-type noodles are expected to regain momentum  through various demand-stimulation initiatives, including deeper penetration  into regional cities, expansion into new channels such as e-commerce, and new  product launches.

2. Indonesia

Demand in Indonesia totaled 14.54 billion servings  in 2025, representing a 1.0% year-on-year decrease (-0.14 billion servings).  This marked the first decline from the previous year in five years, reflecting  the impact of reduced purchasing power amid price increases driven by currency  depreciation and higher raw material costs. Nevertheless, cup-type noodles have  continued to expand despite the current situation, and further growth is still  expected for the instant noodle market as a whole.

3. India

Demand in India totaled 9.60 billion servings in  2025, representing an 8.9% year-on-year increase (+0.78 billion servings). This  was the largest absolute increase recorded by any single country in 2025. The  growth is attributed to initiatives such as the reduction of the GST (Goods and  Services Tax), the expansion of e-commerce channels, and a broader product  range. Further growth is expected going forward.

4. Vietnam

Demand in Vietnam totaled 8.23 billion servings in  2025, representing a 1.2% year-on-year increase (+0.09 billion servings). With  inflation relatively stable in 2025, Vietnam’s economy remained strong, with  GDP growth in the 5% range. Vietnam ranked fourth in the world in total demand  and first in the world in per-capita consumption. Distribution of Cup-type  noodles is also expanding in suburban areas, and the market continues to grow  steadily.

5. Japan

Demand in Japan totaled 5.95 billion servings in  2025, representing a 0.9% year-on-year increase (+0.05 billion servings). This  marked the second consecutive year of growth over the previous year. In the  first half of the year, demand grew by 4.1% year on year, supported by  substitution demand as prices rose, including a sharp increase in rice prices,  and a renewed appreciation of the affordability of instant noodles. In the  second half, however, the market declined 2.0% year on year, as consumers  became more budget-conscious and rice price increases moderated following the  government’s release of stockpiled rice. As a result, full-year demand posted a  modest increase.
