Head to Machida Shibahiro on a midsummer night! A series of night events will be held from late July through August

The Machida City Tourism and Convention Association (a general incorporated association located in Machida City, Tokyo) will host a series of nighttime events at Machida Shibahiro from Saturday, July 25, 2026, through Monday, August 17, 2026, to celebrate midsummer nights.

The association will host three events—the “Machida Blueberry Farmers Market” featuring local farmers, the “Oedo Beer Festival 2026 Summer” where visitors can enjoy craft beers from across Japan, and the “2026 Machida Shibahiro Marche,” which showcases the region’s charms—offering a new way to enjoy the summer by escaping the heat and having fun from evening into the night.

In recent years, against the backdrop of intense summer heat, interest in the “nighttime economy”—activities enjoyed from evening into the night—has been growing.

This summer, Machida Shibahiro will host a series of three large-scale events that take full advantage of the open, airy atmosphere of the lawn.

From dusk through the hours when the evening breeze feels refreshing, we’ve prepared a program where families, friends, and couples alike can fully enjoy Machida’s summer in their own way.

[1] Machida Blueberry Farmers’ Market

Date and Time: Saturday, July 25, 2026, 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Held rain or shine; canceled in case of severe weather)

Blueberry farmers from across Machida City will gather to sell freshly picked blueberries, sweets, and more. Enjoy a special blueberry experience available only on this day.

The Pre-Festival Event will feature ghost stories told by rakugo storyteller Midori Kandayama. At the Market, the Romancecar Museum will be exhibiting for the first time, and visitors can enjoy food, merchandise, and hands-on activities.

Machida Shibahiro is an event plaza known for its excellent accessibility—just about 30 minutes from central Tokyo—and its vast lawn. This summer, through events centered on local agriculture, food, and culture, we will create a lively summer night atmosphere unique to Machida.
