BLD Oriental Co., Ltd. has begun recruiting registered guides in preparation for the September 1, 2026, launch of “TraviU,” a matching service that connects international travelers visiting Japan with local guides.

For this recruitment drive, we are accepting applications from across the country—not only from those with experience in tour guiding, but also from anyone who wants to share the charm of their region, utilize their language skills, or support international travelers during their stay in Japan.

International travelers visiting Japan are broadening their interests beyond famous urban tourist spots to include regional culture, cuisine, nature, history, and lifestyle experiences.At the same time, when visiting a region for the first time, travelers may feel anxious about language barriers, transportation options, local customs, and how to find restaurants or places to enjoy local experiences. TraviU aims to connect these travelers with local guides in Japan who know the area well, providing travelers with a more reassuring and enriching travel experience while offering guides new opportunities to utilize their knowledge and experience.

・Those who want to utilize their experience as a tour guide, interpreter, in customer service, or in travel-related fields

・Those who want to utilize their experience living abroad, studying abroad, or participating in international exchange programs

・Those who want to promote the region’s attractions both domestically and internationally

・Those who wish to assist travelers with their travel and accommodations

Registered guides will create profiles detailing their available service areas, languages spoken, and areas of expertise. Once the service launches, this system is designed to connect guides with inquiries and bookings from travelers.

[Open to Those Without Prior Tour Guide Experience]

TraviU is not limited to those with professional tour guide experience. For example, people who are familiar with local restaurants and shopping districts, those who want to share the region’s history and culture, and those with expertise in specific areas—such as temples and shrines, food tours, outdoor activities, anime and manga, or sports—can all utilize their areas of expertise to contribute.For travelers, “guidance unique to locals”—which goes beyond general tourist information—is a major factor in enhancing their travel satisfaction.

Under the revised Licensed Tourist Guide Act, which took effect on January 4, 2018, even those without a National Licensed Tourist Guide or similar certification can now provide paid tourist guidance (interpretation and guidance) in a foreign language.At TraviU, you can work as a guide or assistant regardless of whether you hold a qualification. However, titles such as “National Certified Interpreter-Guide” and “Regional Certified Interpreter-Guide” may only be used by those who hold the corresponding qualifications.

Furthermore, guides and assistants must comply with the Travel Agency Act and other relevant laws and regulations; they are not permitted to engage in activities requiring legal authorization, such as selling travel packages or arranging accommodations and transportation.

At TraviU, we place great importance not only on guiding visitors around tourist attractions but also on supporting travelers so they can move about Japan with peace of mind. Expected activities include guiding visitors to tourist spots, city walks, introducing restaurants and local experiences, providing transportation assistance, and helping with shopping and cultural experiences.We plan to establish a system where guides can register their available service areas, hours, languages, and areas of expertise, allowing them to work at their own pace and according to their experience.
