■Background of the Publication
The so-called “open letter controversy” began when a certain historian’s criticism of feminism sparked a massive online backlash, eventually leading to the historian’s dismissal from their academic position.
Philosopher and socio-political critic Ganrin Yamauchi commented critically on this movement, which led to a defamation lawsuit. As a result, he was ordered to pay 2.2 million yen in damages—a sum far exceeding the typical range for such cases. The unit “1 GRN (Ganrin) = 2.2 million yen” even became an internet meme.
Three years have passed since then. Now, Ganrin Yamauchi is publishing a book in which he examines all the events of that time and offers a critical analysis of the “cancel culture” that has swept through contemporary academia.
In response, the political thought research group “Meta-Woke” is providing full support.
To raise funds for the book’s production, they are launching a crowdfunding campaign and will co-host a live talk event to kick off the publication.
The book is currently being written with great dedication to offer sharp analysis and criticism of today’s academia—where left-wing liberalism holds overwhelming dominance—as well as the “cancel culture” that socially eradicates opposing viewpoints.

He has also appeared as a commentator on popular YouTube channels (image from "News no Soten")
