The Omachi City Promotion Committee will begin selling five new types of sweets inspired by the Kurobe Dam starting Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

The “Kurobe Dam Sweets” being introduced this time were created by a project team composed of staff members involved with Kurobe Dam, a destination that attracts many tourists from both Japan and abroad.

“We want people to enjoy Kurobe Dam even more.” “We want sweets unique to Kurobe Dam.”

Staff members sharing these sentiments came together to create new products that express the charm of Kurobe Dam through “food.”

Designed as sweets that are “fun to look at, photograph, and eat,” the five items on offer not only make a visual impact but also feature carefully crafted flavors, allowing visitors to enjoy the unique character of each one.

[The Inspiration Behind the Development]

We focused on “black,” which evokes Kurobe Dam, and the “green” of the reservoir.

Through repeated prototyping and discussions, we took on the challenge of developing products that express the charm of Kurobe Dam through food.

The “Kurobe Dam Sweets” are packed with the unique perspectives and playful spirit of our staff.

We aim to promote these products—which let visitors enjoy the Kurobe Dam, a well-known tourist destination, from a new “culinary” perspective—to younger generations and international tourists alike.

We aim to create products that make you want to take photos and share them with others. Please be sure to “taste the Kurobe Dam.”

Kurobe Dam is located in Toyama Prefecture, but it’s very accessible—it takes about 16 minutes by the “Kanden Tunnel Electric Bus” from Ogizawa Station in Omachi City, Nagano Prefecture.
