A Special Edition CAPtainDUCK Is Born

■ Has the official mascot “Alpha-kun” changed “DUCK” to “SWAN”!?

For this collaboration, a special design was adopted in which “Alpha-kun,” the official mascot of Oisix Niigata Albirex BC, changed the word “DUCK” in the CAPtainDUCK logo to “SWAN.” It’s called “CAPtainSWAN.”

A special edition CAPtainDUCK, dressed in the Oisix Niigata Albirex BC uniform, has been unveiled.

Since Alpha-kun is a mascot character modeled after a swan, the idea to change “DUCK” to “SWAN” was born. Although it’s an unexpected twist for the first collaboration—having part of the brand name rewritten—the design perfectly captures Alpha-kun’s playful spirit.

■Background of the Collaboration

This project began when Mr. Maki, CEO of Punch Works Co., Ltd.—which handles merchandising for Oisix Niigata Albirex BCMD—saw CAPtainDUCK at a trade show.

Subsequently, through Punch Works Co., Ltd., we held multiple meetings with Mr. Watanabe, the BCMD manager at Oisix Niigata Albirex BC, and moved forward with the project under the theme of “What kind of products would fans enjoy?” The final decision to commercialize the products was made by the Oisix Niigata Albirex Baseball Club.

The final products were designed to offer the excitement of unboxing, featuring blind-box items that replicate each player’s jersey number and rare autographed versions.

Additionally, reflecting the world of the official mascot “Alpha-kun,” we adopted the unique idea of replacing “DUCK” with “SWAN.” The result is a collaborative product that fuses the distinct personalities of both parties.

■Comment from Takuro Tsunekawa, Representative Director of Miniature Factory Co., Ltd.

CAPtainDUCK is a character that gives rise to new stories when combined with the unique identities of companies, communities, and sports teams.

Through this collaboration with Oisix Niigata Albirex BC, we have realized our first-ever product launch with a sports team.

The idea for “CAPtainSWAN,” which emerged during our meetings, is a concept we would never have come up with on our own.

We are delighted that fans enjoyed the product and picked it up at the venue.
