EFL Club, a children’s English conversation school (operated by McFarren Ltd., hereinafter “EFL”), celebrated its 30th anniversary with a grand commemorative ceremony held at Hotel Emisia Sapporo.

Since its founding in 1996, EFL has been dedicated to English education under the philosophy of “cultivating practical English skills that can be used throughout one’s life.” Over the past 30 years, more than 3,600 students have studied here, and many have continued their studies for extended periods—from infancy through college.Over the course of these 30 years, we have seen families where EFL alumni—now parents themselves—enroll their own children. At EFL, we have established a unique educational approach that exposes children to English starting at age 0. Around the time we marked our eighth year since founding, our teaching staff observed a clear result: the English proficiency of children studying at EFL was higher than that of children who learned English solely through the school system, and they were able to speak English more naturally and fluently.Convinced of the importance of continuous exposure to English from early childhood, EFL has been providing an education that fosters practical English skills for over 30 years.

■ Raising the Overall Standard of English Education and Producing Numerous Students Accepted to the University of Tokyo and Medical Schools

Prompted by this discovery, EFL developed an even more refined, proprietary curriculum aimed at raising the overall standard of English education in Japan.We have consistently adhered to a policy of fostering not only the ability to engage in everyday conversation but also the logical thinking skills and English proficiency required to succeed in society. As a result, we have produced students who have gone on to attend highly selective universities—including the University of Tokyo—and medical schools, as well as individuals who are active on the international stage, achieving outstanding results in the academic field as well.

On the day of the event, we held a program to reflect on EFL’s 30-year journey and express our gratitude to everyone who has supported us over the years. Following opening remarks, Principal Laura, the school’s founder, spoke about the past 30 years and expressed her gratitude to all those who have supported the school.In addition, alumni gave speeches sharing anecdotes about the English skills and experiences they gained through the EFL Club. Warm messages from alumni and supporters who were unable to attend were also read aloud, and the venue was filled with a spirit of celebration and gratitude.
