The “Heavy machinery vs Shumai” Secretariat released “Heavy machinery vs Shumai” a precision-control action game by indie game developer Wataru Nakano, for the Nintendo Switch on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

The game is available exclusively as a download from the Nintendo eShop for 300 yen (tax included).

“Heavy machinery vs Shumai” is a high-difficulty action game in which you operate heavy machinery to remove green peas from top of shumai, following a request from a “site supervisor who hates green peas.”

You control the heavy machinery using only the L and R sticks; the game ends if any part of the machine comes into contact with the table or the shumai itself. It requires extremely precise stick control to target only the tiny green peas, which are just a few pixels in size.

This game was created in 2014 at the “Ahoge” game jam. After releasing a browser version played with a mouse and a smartphone app version, a version controlled using a custom-built, large-scale controller was released in 2017.

After garnering positive feedback at various events, the game gained widespread attention in 2020 when it was featured on TV Asahi’s legendary program “Tamori Club.”

On the show, Tamori-san, who actually played the game, gave it high praise, saying, “This is the kind of game you’ll want to play over and over again.”

In this Nintendo Switch version, in addition to the traditional excavator, three new types of machinery—a wheel loader, a forklift, and a crane—have been added.

Not only can you enjoy the distinct handling of each machine, but the game also includes deep replay value as you aim to complete over 40 different “signature moves.”
