■About JIN Nyan Sign

JIN Nyan Sign is a new check sheet currently under development, officially titled the "Cat Urine Health Check Sheet."

It aims to help owners notice changes in their cat’s urine by checking it in their home litter box, serving as a trigger for them to realize, “Something might be a little different from usual.”

This technology has been patented.

In recent years, significant attention has been focused on new developments surrounding feline kidney disease, including research and potential treatments related to AIM proteins.

While treatment and care options are expanding, a major challenge for pet owners remains: “When will I notice that something is wrong with my cat?”

JIN Nyan Sign was developed with the goal of connecting small observations made at home to consultations at veterinary clinics.

In the early stages, kidney disease in cats can be difficult to detect through visible changes.

Additionally, since many cats are indoor pets, they don’t have as many opportunities to visit the vet as regularly as dogs do.

This is not simply because “taking them to the vet is a hassle.”

There is significant stress associated with being placed in a carrier.

Anxiety about accidental contact with other cats or animals at the clinic.

The cat becoming wary of its owner after returning home.

The difficulty of rebuilding the trust between the cat and the owner once it has been broken.

On the other hand, medical care for feline kidney disease is gradually beginning to change.

Given the promise of new research and treatments, such as those represented by AIM, we believe the value of “detecting the problem early and seeking advice promptly” is greater than ever before.

On Rakuten Ichiba, it has occasionally ranked first alongside major supplement brands, and through features such as the lead article in the January 2026 issue of the peer-reviewed journal “New Food Industry,” it is gaining attention from experts, including veterinarians.

Additionally, our e-book project “My Cat’s Kidney Disease Was Cured,” launched on CAMPFIRE last year, received significant support and ranked first in CAMPFIRE’s overall rankings.

This latest "JIN-nyan Sign" project is a new challenge born out of that momentum.

However, this project is not simply about selling a finished product.

We are currently conducting ongoing pilot tests and making improvements, and we are openly sharing the challenges that have emerged during development without hiding them.

In a pilot test conducted in April 2026, when we followed the original manual and left the test strip in place for three days, more urine than expected remained on the strip, making it difficult to interpret the results correctly in some cases.

We subsequently revised the manual to instruct users to “remove the sheet immediately after urination,” which allowed us to confirm the reaction in some cases; however, this also revealed new challenges.

A particularly significant issue was the individual variation in urine volume among cats.

Initially, differences exceeding 100-fold were observed, and even after the manual was revised, differences of nearly 30-fold were confirmed.

Even if things go well in the ideal laboratory environment, it’s not that simple in actual home settings.

That is why we are aiming to create a more user-friendly product through repeated retesting and improvements based on real-world data from the field.

Additionally, households with multiple cats often face the problem of not knowing which cat produced the urine.

Therefore, for this crowdfunding campaign, we are offering a “Multi-Cat Peace of Mind Set” as a reward that supports the method of collecting urine and dispensing it with a dropper.

Through this crowdfunding campaign, the JIN Katsu Research Institute hopes to develop JIN Nyan Sign together with the pet owners who need it.
