The Intellectual Property Research and Education Foundation (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Nobuhiro Nakayama) is pleased to announce that it has applied to the Japan Anniversary Association to have July 31, "Learn about Intellectual Property Day" registered.

(Origin of the date) The word "Chizai" is derived from the combination of "7 shi" for July and "31" for the 31st of the month.

The purpose of the "Learn about Intellectual Property Day (July 31)" is to promote understanding and utilization of intellectual property (IP), to raise awareness of the need to properly protect and utilize the value created, and to create momentum for learning.

It also aims to honor outstanding learning achievements through the Intellectual Property Management Skills Test, a national examination administered by the Foundation, and to spread awareness of the importance of intellectual property.

We hope that the "Day for Learning about Intellectual Property" will be widely used in various ways in the future.
