This year's event, the 39th of its kind, is an environmental conservation charity event held under the theme of "Enjoy Nature and Connect it to the Future" while continuing the traditional culture of Arashiyama. Proceeds will be donated to environmental preservation activities along the Katsura River and to landscape preservation activities in Arashiyama, and will be used to conserve local resources.
At the event, those who donate 1,500 yen per unit (including one drink) will be able to sample young ayu fish grilled over charcoal. The number of ayu fish is limited to 400 per day and reservations are required in advance.
In addition to the ayu tasting, there will also be hands-on activities for families, friends, companies, and groups to enjoy.
Major cooperative events will include the popular "catching ayu" experience for children, the "Katsuragawa Aquarium" where visitors can learn about the natural environment by displaying creatures collected from the Katsuragawa River in the morning, the "Mitsuya Cider LAB" where visitors can learn about the differences in water while experiencing it, medaka and insect exhibits, and experience booths for children.
The event will provide an opportunity for children to think about the environment through contact with nature and hands-on experience, while adults will also be able to appreciate the natural and cultural attractions of Arashiyama anew.
Please enjoy these two special days in Arashiyama in early summer while tasting young ayu fish grilled over charcoal and experiencing nature, food, and traditional culture.
