The BYU Cougarettes, Brigham Young University’s official dance team and one of the premier collegiate dance teams in the United States, will perform in Osaka, Japan, on Friday, June 5, 2026.
The free public performance will take place at the Toyonaka Performing Arts Center (Middle Hall) in Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture.
Brigham Young University (BYU), located in Provo, Utah, is one of the largest private universities in the United States and is owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The visit to Japan is being organized as part of a cultural exchange program commemorating the 125th anniversary of the Church in Japan.

Winner of the Division 1A Hip Hop Division at the April 2026 National College Dance Championships
The BYU Cougarettes are widely recognized for their technical excellence, artistry, teamwork, and high-energy performances. The team recently won the Division 1A Hip Hop National Championship and finished third in Jazz at the 2026 NDA College National Championship held in Daytona Beach, Florida.
With a long history of national success, the Cougarettes have earned a strong reputation throughout the United States as one of the nation’s top collegiate dance teams.

In addition to the Osaka performance, the Cougarettes will also participate in a special collaboration event with CHIBIUNITY, an internationally active dance team based in Niigata, Japan. The collaboration is intended to promote friendship, creativity, and cultural exchange between young dancers from Japan and the United States.

Japan and Utah share historical ties dating back to the 19th century, including the visit of the Iwakura Mission to Salt Lake City in 1872, where Japanese delegates met Church leader Brigham Young. The upcoming performances continue that tradition of international friendship and cultural exchange.
