◆Film "Kanta! Timor" Director: Natsuko Hirota Profile
Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1979, Natsuko Hirota is a filmmaker who graduated from Nanzan University with a degree in Spanish language. Interested in the indigenous culture of the Pacific Rim, she made this film while experiencing the music and way of life in East Timor and interacting with the local people. He is currently involved in screening activities and campaigns on biodiversity. The film is set in Timor, an island of the gods in the South Sea. This is the first feature-length film in Japan featuring the struggle in East Timor, which Japan has been deeply involved in but has rarely been reported.
Director's Comment
During the filming, I asked President Shanana and others, "What can Japan do? I thought I would get answers like, "Tell as many people as possible about Timor-Leste," but I got answers like, "Make your world a better place," "Do your job," and "Peace will never come to the world unless the local community becomes healthier in this way. Grandfathers, presidents, they all said the same thing. They all said the same thing: "Real peace will never come unless everyone's life itself becomes peaceful!
