Sevensix Inc. to Acquire Laser Processing Technology and Assets from Omron Corporation Acquires Laser Processing Technology and Assets from OMRON Corporation
- Acquired assets including 11 patents, Full-scale business expansion into the laser processing field
セブンシックス株式会社
Sevensix Inc. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo) has acquired laser processing-related technology and assets from OMRON Corporation, effective March 31, 2026. The transfer includes intellectual property including 11 patents, as well as design and manufacturing related assets, software, drawings, and maintenance know-how.
The two companies also agreed on a framework for maintenance and repair work for existing products and the development of successor laser processing-related equipment, thereby creating a framework for a smooth transfer of assets.
Through this acquisition, Sevensix Inc. will expand its technological base, which it has cultivated as an R&D-oriented laser company, and will start full-fledged business development in the laser processing field.

Sevensix Inc.
Background of the Acquisition
Demand for high-precision, high-quality processing using lasers is expanding, particularly in the semiconductor, electronic component, and automotive fields. In particular, needs for microfabrication and processing technology that suppresses thermal effects are becoming more sophisticated, and integrated solutions that optimize the entire processing process, not just the light source itself, are required.
In light of this market environment, we have acquired this asset as part of our mid- to long-term growth strategy.
We will promote expansion into the laser processing area by taking over the technological foundation that has a long track record and reliability in the market.
Strategic Significance of the Acquisition
This acquisition is an important milestone in advancing OMRON's medium- to long-term growth strategy. By integrating the technology and intellectual property to be transferred from OMRON with our existing technology, we will promote the following initiatives.
Improvement of product added value through integration with our own light source technology
Strengthen our quality assurance system by integrating our own inspection technology
Strengthen stable revenue base by continuing and expanding the maintenance business
Improve development speed and competitive advantage by bringing technical assets in-house.
Through these efforts, we will expand our technology portfolio in the laser processing field and establish a more sustainable and robust competitive advantage.
Technical value
The technology to be transferred includes advanced pulse control technology for MOPA (Master Oscillator Power Amplifier) fiber lasers.
The MOPA system is a configuration that enables precise control of pulse width, frequency, and peak power, and has a strong track record in specific applications, including laser processing of high difficulty.
Its reliability, backed by a long track record of market introduction, is also a major strength of the MOPA system.
The patents and design/manufacturing assets to be transferred are not limited to mere technology transfer. By integrating them with our existing light source and inspection technologies, we will be able to create new performance areas.
This is expected to not only advance existing technologies, but also accelerate the development of new applications and successors to laser processing-related equipment. The acquisition is positioned as a strategic investment that will create new synergies in existing technologies and raise the value of technology to a new level.
Relationship with OMRON Corporation
We will establish a technical support period to ensure a smooth handover, and will pass on technology and maintain quality through personnel collaboration. In addition, the Company has established a system to undertake repair and maintenance work for existing products based on consignment from OMRON.
The two companies will continue to maintain a cooperative relationship and ensure transparency and reliability.
Future Development
OMRON plans to terminate sales of laser markers as of March 31, 2027.
In response to this, Minebea will develop and provide successor models related to laser processing to ensure a continuous supply of products to the market. A system will be put in place to ensure that there will be no gaps in supply when the sales are terminated and the successor models are transferred to the new models.
We will expand into the laser processing field and promote the creation of new markets through the development of successor models related to laser processing.
In addition, our core technologies, such as advanced laser control, cultivated in the laser processing field, can be applied to advanced industrial fields that require higher precision and reliability.
We will pursue sustainable growth with an eye to creating technological synergies with cutting-edge fields such as quantum, space, and nuclear fusion.
We will continue to expand the application areas of laser technology and contribute to the advancement and competitiveness of the industrial world.
Representative Comment
This acquisition is an important turning point in our medium- to long-term growth strategy.
The advanced processing technology and intellectual property to be transferred from OMRON is a solid technological foundation backed by many years of experience. By combining these technologies with the light source and inspection technologies that we have cultivated over the years, we are now in a position to provide integrated solutions with even higher added value.
By maintaining the maintenance and repair system for existing products and promoting the development of successor machines related to laser processing, we will contribute to both our customers' business continuity and future value.
This acquisition is a challenge to create new synergies in existing technologies and further enhance our technological superiority.
Based on our technological strength, reliability, and partnership, we will achieve sustainable growth and contribution to the industry.
