Makinohara's strawberries survive the cold winter and grow in a mild environment with long hours of sunlight, which reduces acidity and increases sugar content. Makinohara's strawberries are at their peak in March.

Furthermore, Makinohara's strawberry farmers are particular about the taste rather than the amount of strawberries they produce, and the flavors vary widely. However, most of them are small farms that sell directly to the public, so it is necessary to visit the farm.

Therefore, "Roadside Station Sorat Makinohara" will hold a "Strawberry Fair" from March 19, 2026 (Thursday) to let many people know the deliciousness of Makinohara strawberries! Local elementary school students' creations! Nico Nico Sakabekko Teishoku" joins the cafeteria's grand menu!

As part of their career education, elementary schools in Makinohara City are conducting the "Earth Lunch Project," in which students use ingredients grown in the school vegetable garden and locally available ingredients, use their creativity, and work together with their peers and the local community to complete an original dish. Within this class, the "Nico Nico Sakabe Kids Set Meal," a set meal created by fifth graders from the local Sakabe Elementary School who inspected the local produce actually sold at "Roadside Station Sorat Makinohara," will be newly introduced as the grand menu at "Ochanomakudo" from March 20, 2026 (Friday, national holiday). The elementary school students and the station manager held a series of meetings with the hope that many people would learn about the good qualities of Makinohara and that they would become healthy and happy with colorful rice. This is the menu that the elementary school students and the station manager have commercialized after many meetings. The menu changes depending on the season, using seasonal vegetables from Makinohara, which is also part of the fun.
