Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture, will hold the "Sanda Cherry Blossom Festival 2026" on Saturday, April 4, 2026 as part of the "Sanda Sakura Story" project.

The "Mukogawa Cherry Blossom Zukumi Corridor" in Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture, is a 25-kilometer corridor of approximately 4,000 cherry trees along the Mukogawa River, which was developed approximately 30 years ago by Hyogo Prefecture as part of the "Hometown Cherry Blossom Zukumi Corridor" linking the Sea of Japan and Seto Inland Sea by cherry trees. Someiyoshino cherry trees have a healthy life span of about 60 years. If time continues to pass at this rate, this landscape will eventually be lost.

Based on the idea of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), Sanda Sakura Story aims to make the rows of cherry trees along the Muko River and wild cherry trees growing wild in the satoyama a symbol of a sustainable town and a "hometown landscape" that gently envelops people's memories, and to learn, protect, enjoy, and nurture them together with local communities, citizens, children, and companies. This is a project to learn, protect, enjoy, nurture, and pass on to the children of the future.

Under the four policies of "protect, enjoy, nurture, and connect" cherry blossoms, the project will create opportunities for people to become interested in cherry blossoms in Sanda during the five-year planning period from FY 2012 to FY 2026, and will utilize wild cherry trees growing naturally in the satoyama of Sanda with the cooperation of a wide range of people in and outside the city, through public-private partnership among citizens, businesses, organizations, and the city. Together, they are creating new values and attractions for Sanda.

In this issue, we would like to inform you of events to "enjoy" cherry blossoms. Please come to Sanda and experience the charm of Sanda through cherry blossoms.

Sanda Cherry Blossom Festival 2026

Date: April 4, 2026 (Saturday), 11:00 - 19:00 (canceled in case of rain)

Place: Sanda City Cultural Center Gonoto Hall Parking Lot (1-3-1 Tenjin, Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture)

◆Outdoor stage events: Kids' dance, brass band, night fire show, etc.

◆Eating, drinking, selling goods, workshop booths, etc. using food products from Sanda: about 36 booths

◆Novelty gifts and invitation tickets to the Carpet of Flowers Park for visitors who fill out a questionnaire (first-come-first-served basis)

About 180 cherry bonbori will be placed along the 500-meter-long cherry tree lined along the right bank of the Mukogawa River next to the Gonoto Hall.
