Ishitetsujiro Yohinen (established in 2012), based in Ishitetsujiro, Gujo, Gifu Prefecture, will begin this year's head office operations on April 4, 2026, after a winter break. In addition, spring exhibitions and sales events will be held in Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Kyoto.

Ishitashira is a mountain village located in one of Japan's heaviest snowfall areas. The store has studied the structure of work and living clothes handed down in the region from ancient times, and has reconstructed these design ideas into modern garments.

The most distinctive feature is that rectangular or square pieces of cloth are constructed using only straight cutting. This rational design, which wastes little cloth and does not constrict the body, is the very wisdom of people who have lived with nature.

Unlike mass production and mass consumption, we make clothes that "make the most of the cloth".

It is an effort to connect the beauty of rationality inherited in mountain villages to modern life.

About the Head Office

The main store is open from April to November each year and closed for the winter season from December to March. April 4, when the doors open again with the melting of the snow, is the beginning of the year for the store.

Visitors to Ishitashira Yohin can view the "Main Store," "Former Stable Gallery," "Ai-house," and "Ai-hata" at Ishitashira Yohin.

Spring Tri-city Exhibition and Sale

In conjunction with the opening of the main store, we will hold an exhibition and sale of new spring items in the three cities.

Linen shirts, bottoms, and one-piece dresses cut in a straight line, and other items that can be worn comfortably from spring to early summer. The items are mainly made by our company in Ishitashira, using our own dyeing techniques, such as herb-dyeing and indigo-dyeing. Visitors can try on all items at the venue and consult with us about sizing and how to wear them.

This is an opportunity to actually experience the texture of the fabric, the three-dimensional silhouette, and its relationship to the body, which cannot be fully conveyed through online sales.

Ishitushiro Yohin Ten is a brand that reconstructs the design of straight cutting in a modern way based on interviews and actual research of the clothing culture that remains in Ishitushiro.

Designs that do not waste cloth, structures that can be worn for a long time, and construction that is easily repairable.

In this age of sustainability, the brand offers a new alternative to the rational clothing culture that has taken root in mountain villages.

We are continuing our efforts to reconstruct the garments that remain in the region by interviewing, prototyping, and measuring each garment, deciphering its structure, and reconstructing it into a form that fits the modern way of life.

Clothing from Ishitashira has a rational structure with straight cuts, and is filled with wisdom to avoid wasting cloth and to wear it for a long time. We would like to not only "preserve" this clothing culture, but also circulate it as clothing for the present.

From 2023, we have begun working with "TATSUKE certified instructors" who share our activities to expand opportunities for production and learning in various regions. Currently, we have more than 40 members throughout Japan.

We will continue our efforts to connect people, the land, and the future through clothing.
