Japan's construction industry is facing an aging workforce of skilled laborers and construction management engineers, making it a challenge to secure young human resources. Statistics from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) indicate an aging construction workforce and a decrease in the number of young people entering the workforce, making the securing of construction management engineers an issue for the entire industry. This initiative is expected to help alleviate the shortage of construction management engineers, thereby contributing to the issues of construction schedule delays and soaring construction costs.
On the day of the signing ceremony, President Oishi gave a one-hour special lecture on the current state of the construction industry in Japan, the role of construction management engineers, and career development to approximately 90 students in the architecture course who were scheduled to take the course. The students showed great interest in the lecture, asking specific questions about how to work in Japan and how to obtain qualifications.
