What is the Tohoku Spirit Beer Project?
The Tohoku Spirit Beer Project was launched in November 2011. We received support and encouragement from many customers at the time of the disaster. We thought of what we could do to return the support by improving the quality of our beer and making it better. So, brewers in Tohoku, who are usually rivals with each other, got together to share their skills and brew beer together. Initially, three breweries (Iwate Iwate Kura Beer, Akita Akita Beer, and Michinoku Fukushima Road Beer) hosted the event, but the number of participants has increased over the years, and this time 16 breweries are cooperating. In addition, since November 2017, Kirin Beer Sendai Brewery and Spring Valley Brewery had also joined the program and held study sessions to improve each other's technology more deeply with a support system for analysis, etc.
Once a year, we will offer this technology with the same recipe to return the quality to the many people who supported us after the disaster.

Usually, the Tohoku Spirit Beer Project gathers at one brewery in Tohoku, where breweries decide on a theme, discuss the technology, and brew the beer. This time, 16 participating breweries will brew beer with the same recipe. The beer will be scientifically analyzed by Kirin Brewery to improve the technology. The finished beer will be served at Spring Valley Brewery Tokyo and other beer pubs nationwide.
[Future plans
The finished beers will be served at Craft Beer Serverland Akasaka-mitsuke in Akasaka-mitsuke, Tokyo, on March 8, where 16 companies will open their beers and hold a social event with their customers.
