Taking Women's Career Education to the Next Stage New educational reforms centered on "self-selection experience Starting in 2026
学校法人和洋学園
For more than 125 years, WAYO KOKUBUDAI Girls' Junior and Senior High School (Location: Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture; Principal: Yasushi Miyazaki) has focused on nurturing women who can think and act independently under the educational goal of "Living with Interest".
From the 2026 academic year, the school will implement educational reforms to further deepen "career education for women" while flexibly responding to changes in society.
Through the newly introduced "Tsunaguhi" experience program and the reorganization of class hours, we will establish a system that connects learning to the future, with each student's own interests and concerns as the starting point.
Outline of Reforms
1. Establishment of "Tsunaguhi," a new Saturday experience program
We will establish "Tsunaguhi," a hands-on program on Saturdays instead of holding academic classes.
Tsunaguhi" means "a day to connect oneself with society," and we place importance on students choosing their own learning themes.
By being able to freely choose how to use Saturdays, students will be able to try out volunteer activities, outside programs, open campuses, trips, and other experiences that they have previously given up due to time constraints, without having to miss school.
On the day when all students come to school about once a month, they will share their learning with their peers through a common program.
2. Restructured class hours and curriculum
Total class time will be maintained at 7 hours on four weekdays.
On Wednesdays, the middle day of the week, school is dismissed at 2:40 p.m., allowing time for independent study, review, reading, exploration, etc.
Students will have time to concentrate on their studies and reflect with ease, while maintaining a good rhythm of mind and body. Emphasis is placed on designing learning in a way that is easy for adolescent girls to feel comfortable and empowered.

[Background of Reform
In a rapidly changing society, young people need to be able to "choose their own experiences".
In the past, our school has emphasized learning that uses all five senses to come into contact with the real thing, such as etiquette, Japanese music, science experiments, and English communication.
From the 2026 school year, we will take that learning one step further by providing opportunities for students to experience "connecting their own interests to society" as a system.
Together with the Wayo Inquiry (WIQ) program, we aim to provide an opportunity for students to think about their own lives and future visions.
Future Prospects
Since its founding in 1897, WAYO Gakuen has carried on the aspiration of its founder, Chiyo Horikoshi, to "enable women to become independent and choose their own lives.
Through the reforms of the 2026 school year, WAYO KOKUBUDAI Girls' Junior and Senior High School will nurture women who believe in their own potential and live interesting lives while being connected to society.
We will continue to create a new form of education for girls as a place of learning where each student's "true story" can be nurtured.
