Dorindo Corporation (Location: Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture / CEO: Masayuki Miyaji) is a video production company that has been producing mainly railway-related Blu-ray and DVD films since its establishment, believing that "railroad DVDs are culture. However, due to the headwind of the rapidly shrinking DVD market in recent years, all of its productions have been in the red. What is Dorindo?

DORIN-DO is a video production company that has released more than 100 DVD titles, mainly railroad DVDs, while also working on TV programs and commercials, etc. Since its establishment in 2010, the president, Masayuki Miyaji, has pursued his own unique railroad video works as a "one-man video artist" responsible for scriptwriting, shooting, and editing. He has produced a large number of unique railroad films, which are composed of a vast number of running footage that took many days to shoot, carefully guided narration, and music. The "Reviving Sozenroku (Natural Color) Trains" series, which re-edited 8mm film footage from the Showa period and other past footage to decipher nostalgic railroad scenery and retired trains, and other archival works that exceeded in number also attracted attention.

Background

Since the new coronavirus, the Blu-ray/DVD market has been rapidly shrinking due to the rapid penetration of video subscriptions and free distribution services. DVD products, which require a purchase price high enough to see a number of movies in theaters, no longer meet users' needs, and the decrease in the number of households with playback equipment is also driving the market down. Dorindo's new film, "Freight Train Grand Tour 4: Chubu Arc," to be released on September 21, 2025 (Blu-ray and DVD versions/retail price 6,600 yen including tax), follows freight trains through beautiful scenery as they travel around Japan, this time on JR, private and third-sector railroads in Shizuoka, Yamanashi, Nagano, Aichi, and Mie prefectures. Kintetsu Profile Sharyo Hen, Chapter 2: Tokkyukata II" (Blu-ray and DVD editions; ¥5,500 including tax), to be released on November 21, 2025, will feature a selection of Kintetsu limited express trains that form the largest private railway network in Japan, including "Hinotori" and other Meihan limited express trains. The "Meihan Limited Express" including "Hinotori", "Shimakaze" and other sightseeing limited expresses, and the "Minami Osaka Line" and "Yoshino Line" limited expresses, which form the largest network of private railways in Japan, are introduced by type. All of these series are composed of running images in high-definition 4K video.

The decision to produce these DVDs was based on the single-minded desire to preserve the "culture of railroad DVDs" in a situation where sales of previous productions have been sluggish and production costs have not been recovered.
