Evixar, Data Analytics Lab

Evixar Inc. and Data Analytics Lab, Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Atsushi Takigawa) has started a joint research project with Data Analytics Lab (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Masahiko Kondo) on countermeasure technologies against false and misleading information using acoustic signal processing. This initiative is part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' "Development and Demonstration Project for Countermeasure Technologies against False and Misleading Information on the Internet "*, which has been adopted by Evixar, and is intended to further explore the research theme.

■Background and Objectives of the Joint Research

In recent years, with the rapid spread of SNS and generative AI, social risks caused by false/misinformation and deep fakes have become increasingly serious. In particular, there is an urgent need for technical measures to guarantee the authenticity of audio and video, and international standardization and social implementation in Japan are required.

In this joint research, we will combine Evixar's "Evixar Audio Forensics (EAF)-a cloud system for countermeasures against false and misleading information using acoustic watermarking and acoustic fingerprints-with AI and data analysis technologies, which are Data Analytics Lab's strengths, to explore the following research themes The following research themes will be explored.

エヴィクサーとデータアナリティクスラボ、音響信号処理を活用した偽・誤情報対策技術に関する共同研究をスタート

Evixar and Data Analytics Lab to start joint research on countermeasure technology against false and misleading information using acoustic signal processing.

The research results are intended to contribute to the construction of a "reliable information distribution infrastructure" as a social infrastructure, while keeping in mind trends in international AI governance, standardization bodies (such as C2PA), and consistency with the Hiroshima AI Process.

■About the source of this research

The source of this research is the "Evixar Audio Forensics (EAF)" solution, which is a demonstration technology for the "Development and Demonstration Project for Countermeasures against False and Misleading Information on the Internet" conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, which was selected for two consecutive fiscal years. Evixar Audio Forensics (EAF) is composed of the following basic technologies

i. Authenticity assurance and authenticity judgment support technology that uses audio watermarking to embed historical information into content

This technology embeds data (digital watermark) in audio signals in a form that cannot be discerned by the human ear, and detects tampering or copying of content. The feature of this technology is that it "embeds data in the audio itself," which is more difficult to remove than embedding metadata in files, and has high tamper-resistance.

ii. Technology to support authenticity judgments based on audio fingerprints

This is a technology that converts audio data into feature values in a short period of time and makes them identifiable as if they were fingerprints. By matching these feature values, it is possible to detect whether or not they are identical and whether or not they have been altered or synthesized. iii.

iii. Passive authenticity determination support technology using acoustic fingerprints

Acoustic fingerprinting technology can be used to analyze audio segments of content suspected to have been created by a generative AI, and determine their unnaturalness to determine whether or not a generative AI was used.

The results of this joint research are scheduled to be reported in March 2026 in the outcome report of the "Development and Verification Project for Countermeasures against False and Misleading Information on the Internet" by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
