New Service to Solve the Problem of Solitary Death of the Elderly Tsumusuppo (Mimamori), a New Service to Solve the Problem of Loneliness and Death of the Elderly, is Launched

Tsumugi Senior Life Support Corporation, Judicial Scrivener Tsumugi Inc. (Kita-ku, Osaka; CEO: Takashi Nishitani) and Tsumugi Judicial Scrivener Corporation (Kita-ku, Osaka; Representative Partners: Takashi Nishitani and Hironari Nasu) have launched "Tsumusupo (Mimamori)," a comprehensive monitoring service that anyone can use, to address the increasingly serious problem of lonely death among the elderly. In response to the serious problem of loneliness and death among the elderly, the company will begin offering "TsumuSuppo (Mimamori)" in September 2025.

In 2024, the number of people living alone who died at home reached 76,020 nationwide (76.4% of them were 65 years old or older), of which 21,856 cases were found eight days after death(*1).

Furthermore, in the first half of 2025, the number of people living alone who died at home reached 40,913 nationwide (provisional figures), and the number is on the rise (*2).

This service is a system that provides peace of mind to the elderly and their families through a combination of ICT-based monitoring, consultation services by nursing care counselors and bridges to nursing care welfare, legal services by judicial scriveners to deal with legal issues in old age, and the storage of ending notes.

Background of the Service

In many cases, the use of many watch-over services was not possible without a family member or other person who could receive emergency calls, and even if a contract was possible, the service was often expensive. This has made it practically impossible for single elderly people without relatives to use such services.

With this service, we have made it possible to use the watch-over service even if there is no one, such as a family member, to receive emergency calls by assuming the role of emergency contact person. In fact, Toyonaka City in Osaka Prefecture, which was facing this issue, decided to adopt this service in its public solicitation for a subsidy for a project to support elderly people without relatives.

In order for single elderly people to lead their lives with peace of mind, it is not enough to simply provide a service to watch over them. It is necessary to address a wide range of issues, such as concerns about nursing care and legal problems in old age.

Against this backdrop, we have decided to establish a service together with the judicial scrivener Tsumugi Corporation to develop a comprehensive one-stop service that can solve various problems of the elderly. This service will support single elderly persons to lead healthier and more secure lives by not only watching over them but also handling issues related to nursing care and legal matters.

We intend to expand our partnerships with local governments, rental housing management companies, and nursing care providers throughout Japan, and by rooting the system of watchful waiting and various support systems by specialists in local communities, we aim to establish it as a "social infrastructure for welfare of the elderly" in the future.
