Moriroku Company, Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Naoki Kurose) received a forest CO2 absorption certificate from Tokushima Prefecture on August 8, 2025 through participation in the "Tokushima Collaborative Forestation Project" promoted by Tokushima Prefecture, where the company was founded, and the Tokushima Forestation Promotion Organization.
In 2024, with the aim of contributing to the healthy growth of forests and reducing environmental impact, we have been implementing activities to reforest thinned areas (planting low-pollen cedar, preventing deer from feeding on them, etc.) at the "IN Tokushima Moriroku Forest" located in the Segai district, Yamashiro-cho, Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture. As part of these activities, our employees participated in tree-planting activities last year.
As a result of our tree-planting activities, we have received a certificate from Tokushima Prefecture certifying that we have absorbed 30.9 tons of CO2 (carbon dioxide) per year. This figure represents a concrete achievement toward the realization of a sustainable society. 30.9 tons of CO2 is an image equivalent to the amount of CO2 emissions generated when a gasoline-powered car runs more than 40,000 km around the earth in three and a half weeks [notes].
In the "Moriroku Group Environmental Policy," which we set as the Moriroku Group, we have set forth "consideration for the environment" and "active participation in local environmental improvement activities. Our "reforestation" activities in Tokushima, where our company was founded, are part of these efforts to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We will continue to aim to coexist with local communities and contribute to society, and through our "forestation" activities, we will pass on biodiversity and a rich environment to the next generation, while striving to realize a sustainable society.
