This season, too, a rich lineup of seasonal vegetables grown with love and care by local producers will be available!
About the "Umama-uma Vegetable Event" and special new plans for this season
Since its opening in 2017, Roadside Station Kisarazu Kitakita-no-sato has been selling a variety of local specialty products centered on locally grown agricultural products, with a focus on sales where the faces of local contract farmers can be seen. Currently, the number of contract farmers exceeds 350, and the total number of visitors has exceeded 13.6 million. It has become one of the leading roadside stations in Japan.
In the "Umamauma Vegetable Event," local farmers lovingly grow their produce and give it away as much as they can, allowing participants to enjoy it and save money at the same time. The aim of the event is to make more people aware of the delicious farm products of local farmers. With the cost of living skyrocketing due to successive price hikes of food and daily necessities, we want to make everyone as happy as possible, so this season, the participation fee will again be less than one coin! In the beginning, we purchased substandard produce from the farmers and offered it to our customers, but the farmers also wanted to produce good quality produce. However, farmers are now also willing to offer better quality products, and many of the same quality produce is now available at the store. In the "All-you-can-pack 10 kinds of vegetables in 1 minute challenge" to be held on July 5 (Sat) and July 6 (Sun), you can pack 10 kinds of vegetables such as corn and mini-tomatoes into a bag in 1 minute. You can get 10 kinds of local seasonal vegetables in just one participation. The "All-You-Can-Pack Blueberries in One Minute Challenge" on July 20 (Sun) and July 27 (Sun) will feature large, sweet blueberries grown in Kisarazu by the "Donegara Cultivation" method, in which the berries are planted directly in the ground and given as little water and fertilizer as possible. Within the time limit, participants are required to pick one by one with their fingertips and fill a special cup. This event was organized to support the local producers as well as to deliver the delicious taste of Kisarazu's local products to the public. In addition, summer vegetables such as okra and pumpkin, peanuts, a specialty of Chiba Prefecture, and new rice in the fall will also be available. We hope you will join us for the "Umauma Vegetable Event" to create memories of your summer vacation with your family and friends.
