13-Year-Old Visionary Artist Genshu Takanashi to Premiere Original Musical “Kamihito” in Tokyo – A Groundbreaking Youth-Driven Stage Production
World's Youngest Artist to Direct a Commercial Stage Guinness World Records
ルーラル・アーティスツ株式会社
We are delighted to announce that 13-year-old Japanese visionary artist Genshu Takanashi is set to premiere his completely original musical, “Kamihito,” at Za-Koenji 2 (Tokyo) on November 28 and 29, 2025.
This remarkable project was conceived when he was just 11 years old. At age 12, he singlehandedly produced and released a video version of Kamihito, in which he performed all roles himself—now available on YouTube. At 13, Genshu is taking the next extraordinary step: leading a full-scale commercial stage production with professional actors and crew. This rare artistic challenge has gained attention as a potential world record for being the youngest person to comprehensively direct a commercial musical.
An open audition for professional actors will be held in Tokyo on June 21 (Sat). Then, on June 23 (Mon) at 20:00 JST, a crowdfunding campaign will launch to support the musical’s ambitious stage design and production.

About the Musical “Kamihito”
Set in a mythic world torn between gods and humans, Kamihito follows the journey of a half-human, half-divine boy who must reconcile the two worlds through sacrifice, music, and light. The musical fuses powerful original compositions with immersive stage art and emotional storytelling—crafted entirely by a teenage visionary artist.
The cast includes acclaimed stage performers such as KENTARO (Imperial Theatre: Les Misérables, Love Song to an Angel) and Yuji Mitsuki, former member of the prestigious Shiki Theatre Company. Takashi Ishihara, known for his work on The Boy and the Beast and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, joins the production as Art Advisor. The project is mentored by Akihiro Nishino, creator of Poupelle of Chimney Town and a leading figure in Japan’s creative scene.

Genshu Takanashi was born on March 1, 2012 and lives in Tokyo. A passionate visionary artist since early childhood, he began writing musicals at age 9 and has since produced three full-length musical videos—writing, composing, acting, directing, and designing every aspect by himself.
In February 2025, Genshu was invited as the youngest-ever participating artist to the international art residency “Chitrashala 2025” in India, gaining attention for his intricate ink mandalas and conceptual stage paintings. In addition to solo art exhibitions in Japan, he has also appeared on national television, including TV Asahi’s “Musical Doctor-Chan”, and has starred in musicals, operas, and film.
At just 13, Genshu is already being recognized internationally for his fusion of performing and visual arts, as well as his bold ambition to unite myth, imagination, and artistic excellence.
