CODE BLUE 2025
■ CODE BLUE’s commitment to nurturing the next generation
CODE BLUE has been held with the aim of advancing the cybersecurity industry in Asia by fostering collaboration among security professionals across companies and national borders. One of its core missions is to discover, develop, and support promising young researchers in Japan and Asia, helping them gain visibility and experience on the international stage. We firmly believe that gaining exposure at a global level provides invaluable growth opportunities for the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
As part of this effort, CODE BLUE offers scholarships to outstanding young researchers and provides student staff with opportunities to attend talks and engage with international experts. The conference serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, cross-cultural interaction, and professional development. Over a decade since its first edition, CODE BLUE has played a key role in building bridges between students, companies, industry groups, and peers. As a result, some of the students who have worked as staff in the past have successfully found employment in the cybersecurity industry, and some have even returned as speakers at CODE BLUE, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness in nurturing future leaders. Our efforts to nurture the next generation are showing clear results.
1) Recruitment of Student Volunteer Staff
CODE BLUE is recruiting student volunteer staff to help run the conference. Serving as a member of CODE BLUE offers a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the excitement of an international conference where researchers and engineers at the forefront of cybersecurity gather. Attending cutting-edge presentations, collaborating with like-minded peers, and networking with representatives from sponsoring companies are all part of the experience. Additionally, there may be opportunities for direct interaction with the speakers.

<Comments from Student Staff (Excerpt from 2024 Survey)>
・Participating in an event like this for the first time and having the opportunity to talk with company representatives and staff was an extremely valuable experience—almost too good for me. I was very excited to hear rare and precious talks that are usually not accessible, such as how someone discovered a vulnerability and from what perspective. There were presentations on various topics including railways, space, and languages, which made me realize how deep and complex cybersecurity really is.
・I was able to enjoy the event fully, even having some free time to explore the venue. Although I thought I wouldn’t be able to attend talks due to the busy schedule, I was allowed to go to some, which made me truly happy.

2) Call for Speakers (U25)
CODE BLUE has established a Youth Track (U25 category) to support young engineers and researchers under the age of 25, and is currently accepting CFP (Call for Papers) submissions. This initiative began in 2015, and since then, many young researchers and engineers have taken the stage. Each talk undergoes a rigorous review process by the CODE BLUE Executive Committee and Review Board. Outstanding speakers might be awarded research and development grants. The current maximum grant amount is 500,000 JPY, though in the past, grants as high as 5,000,000 JPY have been awarded to individual speakers. Please apply using the link below.
