Resale will begin on May 5 and run through June 8.

The previous project, which ended in December 2024, achieved a total support of more than 2.8 million yen, or 939% of the target amount, and was well received by many people. This re-release of the product will be a project to make the most of this precious fabric until the end, as only a small amount of No. 2 canvas fabric remained after the end of the sale.

Many of the factories involved in the sewing industry in Japan are now closing their businesses due to lack of successors or lack of funds, and we feel a sense of crisis that the succession of technology will cease. We feel that we are in danger of passing on our skills to the next generation. We decided to use domestic canvas to make products that would help revitalize the local community. We will deliver powerful tote bags sewn from extra-thick No. 2 canvas through crowdfunding.

Because No. 2 canvas is extremely thick and strong, it is difficult to sew and is rarely sold in the market as bags and other products. In addition, there are no factories in Japan that can dye extra-thick No. 2 canvas, making dyed No. 2 canvas an even more precious fabric.

*Basic style tote with a high degree of sewing difficulty

The basic style tote is made using luxurious No. 2 canvas. It is characterized by the triangular design of the bottom gusset of the bag, which is the most complete design for a tote bag. However, it is also the most difficult design to sew because of the multiple layers of fabric, making it difficult for the needle to pass through. Using a high post sewing machine, which sews with the tip of a thin rod on its axis, the tote bag is sewn three-dimensionally. While adjusting the speed and angle, a triangle made of layered thick canvas is sewn. This is a craftsmanship that cannot be redone.

When a needle is threaded through ultra-thick fabric, the thread is subjected to extremely strong tension. At this time, it is necessary to use the thickest possible thread, because a thin thread will break. In this case, the upper thread is a super-thick 1 count thread suitable for the extra-thick No. 2 canvas. By sewing with the thickest thread, the presence and strength of the tote bag can be felt not only from the fabric but also from the stitches.
