Wellness News Group, Inc. (WNG) will hold an online "Functional Foods Evidence Seminar - New Approaches to Functional Exploration to Add Value to Materials" on May 16, 2025. Participation is free for WNG members and 3,300 yen (tax included) for the general public.

On April 1, 2025, the revised Food with Functional Labeling system came into full effect, except for provisions that are subject to transitional measures until next September, such as mandatory GMP and revision of container and packaging labeling rules.
This seminar, titled "Food with Functional Labeling Evidence Seminar," will focus on the points that businesses should address when submitting a notification as a food with functional claims, such as PRISMA2020 compliance for research reviews, which will become practically obligatory, and changes in the format for functionality.
Associate Professor Tatsushi Takeda of the Department of Welfare and Nutrition, Faculty of Health and Welfare, Kansai University of Welfare and Science, who has been involved in research and development of food functionality since the inception of the system, including preparation of research reviews and human clinical studies, will be invited as a lecturer.
In addition, Human Metabolome Technologies, Inc. (HMT), a leading company in contract metabolomics analysis and metabolomics using cutting-edge technologies, has recently launched a new service, "Health Claims Prediction Package. Under the title of "A New Approach to Explore the Functionality of Food Ingredients," HMT will introduce a new approach to explore the functionality of food ingredients using this service, as well as technologies that can contribute to further value-adding and more efficient development of functional foods and other products.

Profile of Mr. Tatsushi Takeda
Graduated from the Department of Agricultural Chemistry, Faculty of Agriculture, Kinki University in 2000.
D. in 2005 from the Department of Applied Biochemistry, Graduate School of Agriculture, Kinki University.
D. in Agricultural Science in 2005. After working as a researcher at the Faculty of Agriculture, Kinki University, a cosmetics evaluation company, and a food CRO, he joined the Department of Welfare and Nutrition, Faculty of Health and Welfare, Kansai University of Welfare Sciences in 2016.
He specializes in analytical chemistry, food science, biostatistics and materials research, mainly in the field of agricultural chemistry, and has a diverse research history ranging from cell and animal studies to human clinical trials. In particular, he has been involved in clinical research on foods and pharmaceuticals since he was a graduate student. Since the inception of the Food with Functional Labeling System, he has been involved in the research and development of the functionality of many foods, including the preparation of research reviews and human clinical trials.
In January 2023, in commemoration of the 100th issue of "Basic Knowledge of Evidence," a series of articles in WNG's e-mail magazine for members, "Wellness Weekly Report," and news site, "Wellness Daily News," he re-edited the contents and wrote and published "'Functional Food Labeling' Notification Guide for Development Staff. A Guide to Notification of 'Food with Functional Labeling' for Development Staff" was written and published to commemorate the 100th issue. A revised edition is currently being prepared.
