The facility, the 21st roadside station in Saitama Prefecture, is located approximately 700 meters from the Okegawa-Kitamoto Interchange on the Ken-O Expressway, along the Ageo Road, National Route 17, and is only one hour from Tokyo, making it easily accessible. As a stopover facility on the expressway, a social experiment will be conducted to allow temporary exit from the Ken-O Expressway to the roadside station. On Wednesday, the day before the grand opening, a preview will be held for related parties and media, and on Thursday, the 27th, the grand opening day, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held with related parties and others to celebrate the grand opening.
About the concept of the facility - A "food theme park" that communicates the charm of Okegawa, a traditional lodging town
Located almost in the center of the Japanese archipelago, Okegawa City in Saitama Prefecture, through which the Nakasendo Highway runs, has long flourished as an inn town where people and goods gather. During the Edo period (1603-1867), the city developed as a place where travelers were entertained and where the delicious food and warmth of the people lived and breathed. Okegawa has a long history of providing hospitality through food, as evidenced by its thriving production of safflower, known as "Okegawa rouge," and its development as one of the Kanto region's leading breadbasket areas through the development of new rice paddies.
The entire building was designed in the style of a row house to evoke the atmosphere of an inn town, based on the concept of "connecting "food" and "people" in Okegawa, where hospitality and warmth abound. The entire building was designed in the style of a row house to evoke the atmosphere of an inn town.
As a "food theme park," it will feature not only local foods from Okegawa, but also delicious foods from all over Saitama and even all over Japan. Our goal is to be a place where people can connect with each other with smiles on their faces. We will also provide a place full of happiness where people can spend a moment with "special people" as the word "benihana" means in Japanese.
The restaurant will also offer a variety of gourmet foods, including original products, agricultural products from local producers, bakery items, seafood rice bowls, and prepared foods! The dining area will also feature a cafeteria using mainly local ingredients, an onigiri specialty restaurant, and a soft & crepe store!
The south side of the main building of the facility is a retail area that sells locally grown fruits and vegetables, livestock and marine products, various processed foods, souvenirs, and prepared foods and boxed lunches. The north side of the main building is a dining area with approximately 140 seats, which includes a cafeteria offering a wide variety of menus mainly using local ingredients, an onigiri specialty store, and a soft serve and crepe store.
In addition, the merchandising section will offer a wide variety of products original to the station, using agricultural products, leeks, potatoes, fermented foods, and other specialty products that represent Saitama!
The dining area offers a unique presentation of seafood and set meals served in "tubs! The station is full of special souvenirs and limited-edition gourmet foods that make the most of local ingredients, and other attractions that you can only find here! Enjoy the items that will make your trip a memorable one.
Details of each product and menu will be announced in the second release scheduled to be distributed on March 20.
