Geosphere Environmental Technology Corp. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Yasuhiro Tahara), a technical consulting company focusing on modeling and simulation, signed a LOI (Letter of Intent) with the National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM) on February 18, 2025, establishing a cooperative relationship as a strategic partner in order to contribute to disaster prevention and water resources in Malaysia. Background of the LOI
Geosphere Environmental Technology and NAHRIM held a workshop on February 18, 2025 at Cyberview Resort & Spa in Cyberjaya, Selangor to discuss the establishment of a next-generation flood early warning system.
The workshop was held to introduce the Next Generation Early Flood Warning Demonstration System, which was developed by Geo-Environment Technology with a grant from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) for the Global South Future-oriented Co-creation Project, and to discuss the situation in Malaysia, technology trends, and technological expectations for Japan. The participants also discussed the situation in Malaysia, technological trends, and expectations for Japan's technology.
Geosphere Environmental Technology is using its own product, GETFLOWS, an integrated water cycle analysis system, to improve the accuracy of existing early flood warning systems in the face of increasingly severe climate change by using radar rain gauge information and hydrological observation data to detect and predict the possibility of flooding, as well as to predict droughts and monitor water resources. In order to improve the accuracy of existing early flood warning systems, we have developed a demonstration system for a next-generation early flood warning system, which includes drought forecasting and water resource monitoring, using radar rain gauge information and hydrological observation data, and are now implementing the system in Malaysia.
In addition to the Early Flood Warning System, we have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with NAHRIM as a strategic partner in ASEAN in the area of water and water environment. The LOI was signed by the Director of the National Institute of Hydrological Research (Deputy Director Dato' Ir. Dr. Hj. Nasehir Khan E.M. Yahaya signed on his behalf) and Yasuhiro Tahara, President of Geosphere Environmental Technology Corp, and it is an agreement for both parties to work as strategic partners through continued technical cooperation.

NAHRIM is the implementing agency of the ASEAN Water Hub to be established by the Malaysian government, and based on this LOI, Geosphere Environmental Technology will provide technical support and assist in its implementation.
