Tsuchiya Care College Company (Representative: Noriyuki Igarashi), a provider of nursing care qualification training, will hold special in-house training sessions for the full year beginning at the end of January 2025.

The college is an educational training institute for training caregivers operated by Tsuchiya Corporation (Head office: Ibara City, Okayama Prefecture; Representative Director: Toshiyuki Takahama; Enrollment: 2,766), a social business enterprise that provides home-visit care services for people with severe disabilities nationwide, as well as day care services for the elderly, regular patrols, and home nursing services. (Head office: Ibara City, Okayama Prefecture; President: Toshiyuki Takahama; Enrollment: 2,766).

At the first training session, Dr. Masahiro Irie, representative of the "Association for Home Healthcare and Home Welfare in Okayama," was invited to give a lecture on the "characteristics and indications of different administration routes for tube feeding.

Amid the serious shortage of human resources in the nursing care industry, Tsuchiya Care College Company will hold special in-house training sessions with doctors, nurses, speech therapists, and other specialists every month for the next one year, in order to not only secure nursing care personnel but also to contribute to improving the quality of nursing care services. The goal is to develop caregivers with solid knowledge and experience by improving their skills.

Training Content and Participant Comments

In the first session, a lecture was given on the characteristics and indications of each route of tube feeding, including a video showing a tube change for tube feeding such as gastroduodenal tube feeding. Participants commented, "It was good that I could deepen my knowledge in areas that I am not usually involved in, such as tube exchange," and "I hope that attendants will gain knowledge through this kind of training and use it in the care of patients. Dr. Irie commented, "Although there are many aspects of this training that have nothing to do with nursing care, there are many people involved in this kind of nutrition-related nursing care, and I think that knowing a little about tube feeding will be useful in their daily work.

In November 2024, under the auspices of Tsuchiya Corporation, a new organization, "The Association for Home Medical Care and Home Welfare in Okayama" (represented by Dr. Masahiro Irie) was established to promote cooperation between home medical care and welfare in Okayama.

The purpose of this group is to "improve the environment for home medical care by promoting cooperation between medical and welfare services," and to "realize a community-based symbiotic society through exchanges not only with related business establishments, but also with service users, their families, and local residents.

Message from Noriyuki Igarashi, Representative of Tsuchiya Care College Company

Tsuchiya Care College Company is an educational and training institution for training caregivers, and offers a variety of qualification training courses throughout Japan, including practical caregiver training, training for entry-level caregivers, and preparatory courses for entrance examinations.

Among them, the training for visiting elderly care workers (integrated course) and sputum suctioning training (No. 3 training) are essential qualifications for providing "medical care" in Home Care Tsuchiya (visiting elderly care), a pillar of the Tsuchiya Group, and are also offered as major training courses at the College.

Nevertheless, it is our desire for each attendant to acquire knowledge, skills, and behaviors beyond the required qualifications and to grow professionally on a daily basis in the field, including in severe home care, and many attendants have expressed a desire to learn and grow.

In general, the nursing care industry does not share knowledge beyond what is required, and medical knowledge is not considered "outside the scope of nursing care." However, those involved in nursing care are generally highly motivated to grow, and the College hopes to respond to this desire to the best of its ability.

In this context, Tsuchiya Care College Company has decided to hold special in-house training sessions over the course of a full fiscal year. The first session was given by Dr. Masahiro Irie, Doctor of Medicine, who has been appointed as a medical advisor to Tsuchiya Corporation from this fiscal year.

In the future, we hope to invite doctors, nurses, speech therapists, and other outside professionals who are active in the medical and nursing care industry to share their knowledge in various fields with the Tsuchiya Group.

We hope that this training will help our attendants to improve their knowledge beyond the framework of nursing care, and to grow further while fully demonstrating their abilities within the rules of the law.

In addition, in order to apply the knowledge gained in this training to on-site care, we hope that attendants will aim to acquire various qualifications, including a care worker certificate, and that they will expand their possibilities by experiencing a variety of workplaces along the way.

We will continue to make utmost efforts to develop better caregivers, as even one more such person will help many people who are not yet receiving care.
