Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, in collaboration with Fuji Konomi Style (a.k.a. Konomi Kai), a civic organization primarily for women who have moved to the city to work and socialize, will hold an online event on Saturday, February 22, 2025, for those considering moving to Fuji City.

●Establish a realistic image of life in Fuji City at the immigration consultation meeting

In the first half of the event, three members of Konomi Kai, senior emigrants, will share their experiences, including what made them decide to emigrate, what they were worried about, what support they used, and what they prepared in advance, as well as how they spend time with their children and choose a place to live. The content will be designed to give participants a concrete image of what life will be like after immigration. In the latter half of the session, small group talks will be held. We will ask questions such as "Is it inconvenient to live without a car? What do you do on your days off? What do you do on your days off?

What is "Fuji Konomi Style" and "Konomi Kai"?

Fuji City in Shizuoka Prefecture has a Shinkansen station and is only about an hour away from Tokyo, so many residents commute to the city center or telework. Fuji City is working on the "Fuji Konomi Style" project to support immigration and settlement, mainly for the purpose of building a community among immigrants, and in 2022, a "Fuji Konomi Style Promotion Council (Konomi Kai)" will be established by voluntary citizens who support the project's objectives. The group is engaged in a variety of activities, including "work sharing," a new way of working in which a single job is shared by a team, study groups, and club activities.

● "Migrants Welcome", a place for exchange after moving to the area

The "Welcome Emigrants" event, which is held regularly by Konomikai for emigrants, provides an opportunity to deepen connections among participants through workshops, games, and other activities.

By providing a time to meet other immigrants of the same generation, learn about the charms of the region together, and enjoy socializing, we support a comfortable life in Fuji City even after moving here.

Welcome Migrants!

The "Konomikai," a group of immigrants, is committed to connecting with the local community.

Konomikai began planning and operating its own projects in 2024.

As a first step, "Konomi Marche" was held in October of the same year. Under the theme of "Rewarding Mothers Raising Children," the event was a great success, attracting visitors with booths for beauty, health, and trial exhibits, in addition to a reuse market.

While valuing ties with the local community through sponsorships from local businesses, Konomikai also contributes to community revitalization by providing a place where immigrants and local residents can interact with each other.

Konomikai not only supports immigrants, but also continues to grow as a platform for women who wish to take on new challenges and contribute to the local community.

We will continue to deepen the co-creation relationship between Fuji City and Konomikai, and work to create a community where migrants can live comfortably and happily.
