MAHOUYA Kodai-ji Temple (Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto) has begun selling a collection of designs from "Tsutsuminosugata" left by Yuuki Irie, the first female Kiyomizu ware painter, in her later years, on January 11, 2025 (Saturday).

Yuuki Irie paved the way for the first female Kiyomizu ware painter in the history of Kyoto and Kiyomizu-yaki ceramics, and continued to work with her brush until two months before her death at the age of 88.
"Tsutsuminosugata"is Yuuki Irie painted folded using the back of a single-sided flyer in her later years. She was talking it as ``the colors and patterns come to my mind, and it's fun to draw."
There are over 1,000 pieces with all different designs, from that the 650 existing have been compiled into one book.
It is a compilation that allows us to learn anew about Yuuki Irie's personality and the heart of the works inscribed with her name, and it is also a book that art and design enthusiasts will enjoy as an excellent source of inspiration.

Artist Profile
Designer and painter Yuuki Irie (real name: Hiroko Irie)
1932-2021 (90 years old)
Born in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, Japan, her graduated from the Kyoto Prefectural Institute of Pottery and Ceramic Art in 1950, received the Mainichi Newspaper Award for Women's Ceramics in 1967, and was selected for the Kyoto Exhibition in 1972. She passed away in 2021.
