■Survey of Stress Factors during the Year-End and New Year Rush
TOP 5
1. congestion due to the large number of people
2. fatigue due to long travel time
3. heavy baggage
4. not being able to get to the destination on time (delays in service, delays in procedures, waiting in line, etc.) 5. various problems that occur when traveling with children
5. various problems when traveling with children (strollers, toilets, support)
Summary of Survey Results
(1) About 64% of respondents were only returning home, about 30% were only traveling, and 1% were only on business
(2) About 58% were accompanied by "family", followed by 34% "alone". The trend that most of the respondents were traveling back home was evident. The age group of both men and women was also the main group (23-48 years old), accounting for about 80% of the total. This could be considered the generation with children.
(3) When asked if they felt stressed about the amount of luggage they had to bring, more than half of the respondents said they did. Of those who felt stressed, 56% were male. This suggests that males tend to be in charge of luggage within the family.
(4) The most common problems related to luggage were "carrying," "preparation," "place to put it," "place to leave it," and "sorting," in that order.
(5) When asked, "What do you need to do to reduce travel stress? The next most common responses to the question "What is needed to reduce the stress of traveling?" were "Measures to alleviate congestion (dispersal, increased frequency, reservation system) and an information system to monitor congestion," "Expansion of restrooms and rest areas," and "Expansion of luggage storage and delivery services," followed by "Efforts to reduce the amount of luggage itself.
(6) Although there are differences between men and women, "luggage storage and delivery services," "rest areas," and "information services (congestion information)" were the most requested services in the future.

Summary
The year-end and New Year holidays were the longest of the year (9 consecutive holidays), and there was a lot of activity in terms of travel to and from home.
This concentration of people caused a lot of stress. The large number of people and luggage caused delays in flight operations, and the lack of real-time congestion information services meant that passengers arrived at stations and airports early and stayed longer, which also contributed to the lack of rest areas and restroom facilities.
In the future, many requests were received for methods to avoid concentrated congestion by evolving decentralized, increased flights and reservation systems, for information services to check congestion in real time, for additional luggage storage and delivery services, and for temporary restrooms and rest areas. Also not to be forgotten are requests for human assistance for passengers with children and those requiring nursing care. As for improvements for passengers themselves, it is noteworthy that efforts to reduce the amount of luggage they bring with them were mentioned. While there are requests to each transportation agency, we also expect each traveler to take measures to protect themselves by using information services to avoid congestion and reduce luggage. Since stressful situations can lead to bad manners and needless trouble, we hope that these will be improved for the next major holiday to make the trip more comfortable.
