Toei Kyoto Studio Corporation (Toei Movie Village in Kyoto) (Toei Kyoto Studio, Kyoto, Japan) will hold the first "Red and Gold Chinese New Year Festival" from January 25 (Sat.) to March 2 (Sun.), 2025, for a limited time for inbound Chinese tourists visiting Japan for the Chinese New Year vacation. The streets of Edo, decorated in the festive colors of "red" and "gold," will be boldly decorated in a festive mood for the Chinese New Year so that visitors can enjoy eating and walking around with special sweets.

(1) Special live entertainment "O-oku no Hatsuharu" (New Year's Celebration in O-oku)

During the Edo period (1603-1867), various events were held throughout the year in the "O-oku (inner chambers)" of Edo Castle. It is said that songs, dances, and musical compositions were essential for samurai daughters, and that on Hatsuuma (the first horse day of the second lunar month), they performed dances and plays in front of the lord of the palace and received gifts such as kimonos and ornaments to enjoy the festivities. The dancers performed a gorgeous dance accompanied by live shamisen and koto music, recalling the customs of the "Land of Tang. The performance will enhance the festive mood of the New Year.

(2) "Omotenashi" in the theme colors of "red" and "gold

Samurai, townspeople, and other Edo residents will greet visitors in "red" and "gold" costumes. Visitors who call out to them and hand over an exchange ticket will receive an original sticker limited to the event.　*One voucher will be given to each person upon entering the village.

A photo spot with a giant gold motif of a snake, this year's Chinese zodiac sign, will also be set up. In addition, during the event period, the streets of Edo will be decorated with "red lanterns" and the curtains of machiya houses will also change to "red" to create a festive and photogenic scene different from that of the usual Eiga-mura.

(3) Original food

The "New Year Churros" (700 yen), a colorful limited edition original sweet with white whipped cream topped with red sanding sugar and yellow gold alazan, will make its first appearance!
