ODISHA JAPAN FESTIVAL 2025 (OJF2025) will be held in Puri, Odisha, India on Sunday, February 9, 2025, with music and dance performances by Japan and India on a special stage. In addition to music and dance from Japan and India on a special stage, a booth will be set up to promote the future and dreams of children in Puri, Odisha, India.

Crowdfunding is being conducted until February 8, 2025 (Saturday).

This music and dance festival is a music and dance festival that aims to develop friendship between Japan and India and to support education for local children through a festival that transcends borders and language differences and in which all people, children and adults, rich and poor, can participate. Thanks to your support, the festival has become a much-anticipated event among the local people.

This year, the 12th year of the festival, we will again have Takoyaki Taiyaki (octopus dumplings)! Bon dance! We will liven up the event with Japanese festivals.

About ■ODISHA JAPAN FESTIVAL

Tsuyoshi Miyahara, the chairman of the board of directors, went to India in 2014 to train in the Indian classical percussion instrument tabla. He came to the seaside fishing village of Puri in the state of Odisha. He is currently a Japanese drummer who has opened a drum school and teaches drumming to local children while writing lyrics and playing in a band.

He has fallen in love with the place and the people who live here, and once a year he and his friends organize a handmade open-air music festival with free admission for everyone to enjoy, with Japanese and Indian people standing on the same stage.

*Changed its name to ODISHA JAPAN FESTIVAL in 2018, and will celebrate its 12th year in 2025.

The event, which was originally called PURI ROCK FESTIVAL when it was first held, has gradually grown to be looked forward to by an increasing number of local people each year, and has even been featured in the Japanese travel guide magazine "Chikyu no Arukikata" (Globe-Trotter).

Since the beginning of the 2014 PURI ROCK FESTIVAL, we have been donating musical instruments and handmade underlay to local children and schools.

The first time we saw children at a school in India on stage, we were filled with excitement, courage, and inspiration from the children. In return, we give them musical instruments and handmade underlay mats as a small way of repaying their kindness.

When we implemented the OJF2024 crowdfunding project, we had a plan to give away 300 takoyaki (octopus dumplings) as a return gift, and we were able to see the smiles on the faces of many children.

We were delighted to see the children's eyes sparkling, their excitement at the music, and the way they ate Japanese food (takoyaki and taiyaki) with a sense of curiosity and relish. Due to the popularity of this event, we have prepared a plan to distribute "takoyaki" again this year.

10,000 yen: 50 takoyaki (octopus dumplings) will be distributed free of charge to children!

*We will serve Takoyaki (cheese and corn because India does not eat Tako) as a part of Japanese cultural exchange at the festival! For each person's support, we will distribute 50 takoyaki free of charge to about 50 children!
