Past activities of "Miss SAKE
Miss SAKE was launched in September 2013 by Miss SAKE, a general incorporated association, for the purpose of selecting ambassadors with a sense of beauty and intelligence to promote the appeal of traditional Japanese sake and Japanese culture in Japan and abroad. The first "2014 Miss SAKE" was crowned at the October 2013 selection event, which was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the National Tax Agency, the Japan Tourism Agency, the Central Association of Sake Brewers, and other organizations. Since then, for the past nine years, we have conducted more than 400 activities to raise awareness about Japanese food and culture and to attract tourism to Japan, not only in Japan but also in other countries around the world, including Hawaii, New York, London, Milan, Barcelona, Sydney, and Hong Kong, using sake as a starting point.
In 2016, the first overseas Miss SAKE USA was selected in New York; in 2023, we plan to hold Miss SAKE contests in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Vietnam. The Wall Street Journal, a well-known U.S. business newspaper, reported that the contest was "a cultural project that sings of women's dignity and equality without swimsuit judging" and gave it high marks. 2023 Miss SAKE, now in its 10th year, will continue to develop as a new cultural project centered on sake, with the expansion of domestic regional competitions and overseas competitions. The event will continue to develop as a new cultural project centered on sake, while expanding its domestic regional and overseas competitions.
