Social contribution project "TAKI SMILE DESIGN LABO, Third Social Contribution Activity at Magoso School in Kenya

As part of the social contribution project "TAKI SMILE DESIGN LABO (SDL)" undertaken by Taki Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Toshikazu Takizawa), we will visit Kenya from December 2 (Monday) to 5 (Thursday), 2024, to conduct a workshop in Kibera Slum at the " The workshops will be held mainly at Magoso School to support orphans in need of educational assistance and children in slums who are having difficulties in their daily lives.

SDL, a social contribution project undertaken by Taki Corporation, is a project initiated by volunteers from Taki Corporation based on the question of what social contribution we, who work in the field of advertising production, can make. Up to now, we have been involved in various activities in Japan and abroad with the goal of "bringing smiles to people's faces through the power of design.

Our first visit to "Magoso School" in Kenya was in 2014, and this year will be our third visit. The purpose of this year's activity is also to provide educational support to the school, to which we have been providing ongoing support, using design to support the children's creativity and learning.

Last year, we conducted "Arts and Crafts 2.0," a problem-solving class based on design thinking. In the workshop with about 30 students, they were challenged to generate ideas for problem-solving through discussions on worksheets on the theme of issues in slums and schools.

This year, we are planning to hold another series of activities that will help children gain new perspectives on what social contributions they can make with the power of design.
